Yesterday was perhaps the most important midterm election in the nation’s history.
Many midterms have either supported the President or ruling political party or it reveals that the American public has turned from the President in only 2-years.
This happened to Barack Obama in his first midterm election when Democrats lost control of the House. Prior to the 2010 midterm election, Democrats held a 255 to 179 seat lead in the House and a 58 (including 2 Independents) to 42 seat lead in the House.
After the 2010 midterm, Republicans gained 5 seats in the Senate, which were not enough take control, but weakened the Democrats’ grip. In the House, Republicans took a 240 to 191 seat lead. Normally, this would have been sufficient to hinder most of Obama’s agenda, but unfortunately, the House GOP leadership, with Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), was weak and regularly caved into the pressures and demands of Obama and his fellow Democrats.
In the 2014 midterm elections, Republicans picked up 6 more seats in the House, giving them a 246 to 187 lead and they also took control of the Senate with a 54 to 46 (including 2 Independents) seat lead. However, GOP Senate leadership with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was just as weak as Boehner, allowing Obama and Democrats to still dictate to them.
Had Boehner and McConnell stood their ground on any issues, they could have stopped many of Obama’s agenda items, but they were too wishy-washy and weak and still allowed Obama to walk all over them.
Democrats won enough seats in the House to take control away from Republicans. Not only does this mean that House leadership is turned over to America’s socialist party, but that also means that Democrats will take the chairmanship of House committees as well. Whoever ends up as Speaker of the House will decide what pieces of legislation the House will handle and what ones will be tossed into the trash without being read or voted on.
Now that Democrats have won control of the House, they feel empowered to do everything they can to stop any and all of President Donald Trump’s agenda plans. They won’t be as weak or as easily intimidated by Trump as the Republicans were under Obama.
They have vowed to push to repeal the tax cuts that have created millions of jobs and allowed workers to take home more pay than they have in years. They also promised to do everything they could to block Trump from building a border wall or increasing border security. They would have pushed to open the border to every caravan of migrants no matter who or what was among them. They would push to allow America to become the destination of every refugee, terrorist, gang member, criminal and despot from anywhere in the world. Under Democratic leadership, American citizens would have become the minority in only a few years.
Yes, yesterday’s election was one of the darkest days in America’s history. To many such as myself, it spells the end of the America that we have known and loved. It is perhaps the final nail in our nation’s coffin and the turning it into something ugly and evil – a socialist nation.
