Women in Combat

“There will be no exceptions.”

Those words by Defense Secretary Ashton Carter who announced that women will now be serving our military in combat roles. Carter said, “They’ll be able to serve as Army Rangers and Green Berets, Navy SEALs…and everything else that was previously open only to men.”

This announcement overturns a longstanding rule which restricted women from combat roles, and was an open rebuke of the Marine Corps, who requested an exemption for infantry and armor positions based on a yearlong study showing how it could hurt its fighting ability.

Congress has 30 days to review the decision. Let your Representative and Senators know how you feel about women on the front lines when you call 202-224-3121.
