Another horrible shooting of innocents by a madman, another opportunity for the power-hungry fascists posing as American liberals to shred the Second Amendment and push for more gun control. This time, we look to Roseburg, Oregon, where a 26-year-old man killed 9 people at Umpqua Community College on Thursday. Obama’s response? An endorsement of gun laws in Britain and Australia. What is this policy, you ask? Why, it’s nothing short of a flat out confiscation of guns.
From Obama’s statement:
We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours. So we know there are ways to prevent it.
BHO’s decree makes it official: Democrats can no longer claim they are for “common sense gun laws.” They can no longer engage in mockery of people who have long-suspected that they are out to confiscate guns in a conscious effort to undo the Second Amendment. For the longest time, Democrats have pretended to respect the right to keep and bear arms. We have long-believed this was a complete sham and now Obama has unwittingly confirmed it.
The Democrat Party has for at least the last half-century been the defenders and practicers of tyranny in our Republic. They have an undying contempt for our constitution and especially the 2nd Amendment because it guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. And contrary to the modern-day apologists for the anti-gun lobby, that guarantee isn’t in there to protect the right to hunt or even to ward off intruders to your home (even though those are important things). The right to keep and bear arms exists to prevent would-be tyrants from seizing our liberty and doing all the things that led to the first Revolution in the first place.
People seem to forget that our Constitution was written by men who had, only a few years earlier, violently shaken off the yolk of an oppressive government to forge their own path. To claim the Second Amendment exists for hunting is a way to say they forgot that governments can be oppressive and sometimes need to be done away with.
This protection against tyranny is why there is this line in the Declaration of Independence:
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Do these sounds like the words of people who didn’t fear the likelihood of a tyrannical government rising to suppress the rights of the people?
The threat of tyranny and oppression from their government was a threat that was all too real to the Founders, one that we have gotten soft on. Too many people assume that it could never happen here, but in far too many ways, it already has. Just the fact that the government can find out all kinds of personal information about you before you can even buy a gun is part of the problem already. And part of their clarion call for gun control involves a national database of all this information. You don’t think that a government, run by people who would send out their goons in the IRS to willfully suppress the opposition’s ability to participate in electioneering, would use this information to deny you the capacity to buy a gun?
The Obama regime will use any excuse to deny people the right to keep and bear arms. Townhall’s Katie Pavlich reported on one such effort back in April of this year.
Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder expressing deep concerns over Veterans Affairs evaluations classifying veterans as “mentally defective” and banning them in the federal background check system from purchasing or owning a firearm.
According to Grassley’s office, the VA “reports individuals to the gun ban list if an individual merely needs financial assistance managing VA benefits,” keeping them from exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Got that, folks? If you’re a veteran who needs assistance keeping their finances in order, you can be banned from owning a firearm. Remember, we’re talking about veterans, most if not all of whom used much more powerful weapons on the battlefield than the weapons they would be banned from owning as civilians. This is not the efforts of people trying to keep arms out of the hands of people like Adam Lanza, James Holmes, or Christopher Harper Mercer. They are trying to disarm law-abiding citizens (veterans no less) through completely fraudulent means.
This is who we’re dealing with: people who will erase the Second Amendment from our Constitution by hook or by crook.
It’s time to stop treating these gun-grabbers as if they have any legitimacy in this debate. It’s time for us to finally start treating the Left as the freedom-hating, Second Amendment-denying tyrants they are. People who want to usurp liberty to pave the way for their own version of despotism need to be called out for such behavior. The Left hate our freedoms and that those freedoms allows us to be independent from their incessant need to control every aspect of our lives. Conservatives need to be taking this case to the American people, many of whom do not look at the battle between the Left and the Right for what it truly is: a war between tyranny and liberty.
We need people to understand that this is the choice before us. We will either be a free society with our rights protected by the Constitution or we will be a nation where those in power can rob us of our God-given liberty on whatever flimsy basis they can concoct. This is not an extreme or a “far-right” argument to make. It’s the rudimentary argument over what kind of country we are going to be. If this is too radical for the comprehension of the people, then we’ve already lost the Republic.
