Victory for Marriage!

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the marriage amendments in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

In the decision, Circuit Judge Jeffrey Sutton pointed to a 1972 Supreme Court Ruling (not negated by the most recent ruling) which “upheld the right of the people of a state to define marriage as they see it.” That’s the basis the federal district court judge used to uphold marriage in Puerto Rico last month.

Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage praised the decision, saying, “in Ohio, advocates of homosexual ‘marriage’ have “pulled a ballot petition because of the fear they will lose.” He also said “Marriage played a ‘central’ role in the defeat of both U.S. Senators Kay Hagan (of North Carolina) and Mark Pryor (of Arkansas).”
