The attempt to override President Obama’s veto of the reconciliation bill which defunded abortion giant Planned Parenthood fell short of the two-thirds needed. All but three Republicans voted to override Obama’s veto, and all but one courageous Democrat, Congressman Peterson of Minnesota, voted to sustain the veto.

During the debate, Congressman Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania said, “84 percent of this country supports restrictions on abortion, however, this Administration is giving their tax dollars to organizations that kill innocent babies. Today’s legislation channels taxpayer money away from organizations that provide abortion toward something all Americans can support–federally qualified health centers.”

He added, “Unlike Planned Parenthood, they actually do mammograms.”
