Venezuela is nation that is collapsing upon itself, throwing everything, including the economy int chaos.
The reason behind the collapse is that the oil-rich nation has been run by a socialist with textbook socialist policies.
It resulted in runaway inflation, the collapse of their national healthcare system, astronomical tax increases and social unrest.
Trump and several other world powers has recognized Venezuela’s opposition leader as the rightful interim president instead of the existing socialist, Nicolas Maduro.
After telling an interviewer that he wants to get the US out of the endless wars in the Middle East, that military intervention in Venezuela is an option, but not one he wants to use.
The Hill – Trump: Military intervention in Venezuela an ‘option’ – President Trump in an interview broadcast Sunday said U.S. military intervention in crisis-torn Venezuela is an “option.”
“Well I don’t want to say that,” he told host Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked about military intervention and any national security interest.
“But certainly it’s something that’s on the — it’s an option,” he added.
The president also said Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro requested a meeting “a number of months ago” and Trump turned it down.
“I decided at the time, ‘no’ because so many really horrible things have been happening in Venezuela when you look at that country,” he said…
Besides the cost in money and the lives of US troops, there is another really good reason to not use military intervention to stop the civil unrest in Venezuela.
Maduro’s greatest ally is Vladimir Putin and Russia.
He has also been courting China with many promises.
If the US sent troops into Venezuela, there is a good chance we our troops could be squaring off against Russian and Chinese forces that have come to Maduro’s aid.
