There is a very important deadline between President Obama and the Iranians in negotiating an agreement over Iran’s nuclear program. It’s also an important date in reminding the President to help free American citizen Pastor Saeed Abedini who has been imprisoned and tortured in Iran for his Christian faith.
The Iran negotiation will be reaching a deadline on November 24th. The goal in the negotiations is presumably to get the Iranians to back away from producing nuclear weapons in exchange for the U.S. to ease economic sanctions against the Islamic regime. The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is leading a movement among Christians to remind the President to not forget Pastor Saeed during these very important negotiations.
The ACLJ is calling on churches, organizations, and individuals to take part in a “postcard blitz” by sending postcards to the White House pleading for Pastor Saeed’s release. An individual or church can purchase and mail pre-printed postcards addressed to President Obama.
The postcard reads:
A man in your position has been given great power and responsibility to represent every American, whether on domestic or foreign soil. Please hold to your own words, that no one is left behind. We, the American people, ask you to do everything within your power to bring U.S. citizen, pastor, husband & father, Saeed Abedini, home to his family from his time of incarceration in Iran.
ACLJ is simply asking you to pass out postcards to friends and family or even set up a table at your church to have the postcards signed there. The postcards are available in bulk packages of 100 through Trinity Worldwide Reprographics by calling (562) 567-2050 or by emailing email@example.com. If you can’t order in bulk, you can always send in your own postcard asking the President to bring Saeed home.
Over 80,000 postcards have already been ordered but there’s only one week till the deadline.
Jay Sekulow, chief counsel at ACLJ, has sent out a reminder calling on all citizens with a reminder. “Pastor Saeed – a U.S. citizen – remains wrongfully imprisoned in Iran. After more than two years in captivity, he’s suffering from immense pain and internal injuries from prison beatings. Now is a pivotal time in the fight for his freedom,” Sekulow said. “The Obama Administration is literally sitting across the table from Iran with a November 24th deadline for nuclear negotiations looming large… President Obama has promised to leave no American behind. We must hold him to this promise. He must bring Pastor Saeed home. Demand President Obama not leave Pastor Saeed behind.”
As Christians and citizens of this country, we only have one week to help secure the release of our Christian brother. Make yourself be heard today and remind our President that Pastor Saeed needs to be freed and back home on American soil with his family.
Here is a recent video from Saeed’s wife Naghmeh Abedini:
