Pope Francis’ ‘Study’ on Homosexual Sin

Barb Wire

From the annals of absurdity:

We’ve had “scientific” and wasteful studies on the flow rates of various brands of ketchup, the improved attractiveness of women wearing red, and the Pacific Herring’s possible method of communicating by passing gas.

Don’t laugh. It’s not funny; it’s sadly all true.

Now, we have a proposed study on the insanity of sin. According to Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, Pope Francis wants to conduct a study on why people do self-destructive things – engage in nonsense – love to sin so much. Good luck with that. Theologians, philosophers, and social scientists have been trying for centuries to figure out what causes humans to behave badly.

As I have always said, S.I.N. is an acronym for Self-Inflicted Nonsense. So, trying to figure out nonsense is going to be a lot more nonsensical (redundancy intended) than trying to figure out the viscosity of ketchup, the hotness of the color red, or the flatulence of fish. While these studies may be wasteful, there is at least a faint modicum of “scientific-ness” to them, and they certainly give us something interesting to complain about. But I’m afraid “nonsense” won’t be such an easy nut to crack.

More specifically, the Pope’s proposed study is on the sin of homosexuality. In an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera published just this past Wednesday, Pope Francis was quoted as saying that the rise of gay unions has provoked him to take a “necessary look at the diverse cases and evaluate them in their variety.”

Following these comments, Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press that Pope Francis believes the Catholic Church needs to examine why some states are choosing to legalize the civil unions of “gay” couples. Dolan assures us, however, that the pontiff has not expressed his endorsement or approval of such unions.

“He didn’t come right out and say he was for them,” Dolan said. But Pope Francis is encouraging church leaders to “look into it and see the reasons that have driven them. Rather than quickly condemn them, let’s just ask the questions as to why that has appealed to certain people.”

Why have “such unions” “appealed to certain people” in “some states?” Well, never mind the fact that, in large part, the emergence of counterfeit “marriage” around the world has not necessarily been brought about because these “unions” are considered so “appealing.” In fact, in America, if it had been left up to the majority of the average voters in most states, things would be vastly different. In most cases, same-sex “marriage” or “civil unions” were actually foisted on the general public from “on high” through the activist efforts of morally bankrupt judges, Pres. Obama’s tyrannical executive orders, Attorney General Eric Holder’s immoral policy decisions, and the ill-advised legislation of weak-kneed, capitulating politicians. The bullying tactics of the homosexual activists and the propaganda of a complicit mainstream media have all greatly contributed to making this an unfortunate reality in America. To be sure, the advent of gender-denial absolutely wasn’t because of the appealing nature of homosexuality…not by a long shot. And that’s also true around the world as well. Remember the fairly recent massive and numerous demonstrations in support of traditional marriage in France, one of the most liberal nations of the world?

Also, never mind the fact that the church, by and large, has not been condemning “them.” We are condemning sinful, self-destructive behavior out of a genuine concern for the general welfare, both physically and eternally, of those struggling with the sin of homosexuality. The Leftists can viciously mock our “love the sinner, hate the sin” expression as an empty mantra, but we know that these words, albeit a cliché, absolutely represent the truth. The last thing in the world we want to see is their eternal condemnation. That’s also why we spend so much time and effort trying to warn them and steer them away from this perverse lifestyle of personal destruction.

Following Dolan’s statements to NBC, the Vatican went into damage control. “The Pope did not choose to enter into debates about the delicate matter of gay civil unions,” Rev. Thomas Rosica, a consultant to the Vatican press office, said in a statement. “We should not try to read more into the Pope’s words than what has been stated in very general terms.”

So, the Pope wants to “look” at and “evaluate” the rise of same-sex “unions” without “enter[ing] into debates?” Ain’t gonna happen! There is no possible way to extricate this “delicate matter” from the super-charged, highly politicized, incendiary debate…the militant homosexual activist have made sure of that. More to the point, according to the homo-fascist Leftists, there is NO debate. It’s already been settled in their closed, intolerant minds. Dissent will not be tolerated. Step out of line, like individuals such as Prof. of Sociology Mark Regnerus at the University of Texas at Austin, and find out what happens. Anything other than the PC-approved homosexual ideology will be crushed under the homosexual jackboot. No real objective scientific studies, civil debate, sociological scholarship, philosophical discussions, and certainly any church “evaluations” will be permitted…at least not without facing their vitriol, ire, hatred, threats, intimidation, and possible harm.  So, Pope Francis, if you’re hoping to be tapped again in 2014 as the Advocate’s (an LGBT publication) Personality of the Year, you might want to shut down this “study” before it ever gets off the ground. Unless you’re planning on a shocking moral surrender in the future, the homosexual activist aren’t interested in the truth, and they certainly could care less about a church evaluation of the subject.

When asked for his own views on the subject, Dolan pointed out that he himself believes that marriage between one man and one woman is “not something that’s just a religious, sacramental concern…it’s also the building block of society and culture. So it belongs to culture. And if we water down that sacred meaning of marriage in any way, I worry that not only the church would suffer, I worry that culture and society would.”

Finally, something we can agree on! Marriage is not to be recklessly tampered with by the liberal social engineers. A little moral and political common ground is always nice.

Yet, do we really need to figure out what’s behind the “appeal” of sin? How about just calling evil what it truly is, evil? Instead of the opposite trend that has become so popular these days (Isa. 5:20).

However, for those of you who have an insatiable urge to figure out what makes the serial killer tick, the deranged person crack, the jilted co-worker to go postal, or the Islamic terrorist so fixated on blowing things up, allow me to save us all a lot of time and money on yet another wasteful, governmental study. (Taxpayers, you can thank me later.)

Here’s all we need to know, straight from the mouth of God Himself:

“Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death (James 1:14-15)

Capish? Do you get it now?

Playing off of the susceptibilities associated with humanity’s sin nature, the causal agent (I’m trying to sound all scientific) of actual sin IS…wait for it…drum roll, please…our “own evil desires” and the “enticing” nature of sin itself. It doesn’t get any clearer than that.

And now that you have the answer, does it make you feel any better? Does it make sin any less harmful or deadly, as James puts it?

Therefore, let’s stop wasting everyone’s time and resources on any more absurd “scholarly” studies, and instead invest more of our energies and efforts into defeating the homosexual agenda…

And more importantly, winning the lost homosexual to Jesus Christ.

Besides, I don’t have any time for all of this other nonsense…I have to go help my wife find a new red dress.
