On March 5th, Planned Parenthood’s Betty Cockrum was given the award, which the state website refers to as “the State of Indiana’s most prestigious recognition of women.” (The extreme Left-wing radicals have apparently redefined “prestigious” to now mean “notorious.”)
The awards ceremony was held at the Indiana Historical Society by the Indiana Commission for Women, a state panel established by the Indiana legislature.
So, how is it that the demonic darkness of baby dismemberment could every be associated with letting one’s light shine? Sadly, though, this recent development is completely in line with Pres. Obama’s invoking of a blessing on Planned Parenthood last April when he closed his speech before the group with the asinine words: “Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.”
Indiana Right to Life President and CEO Mike Fichter flatly stated his strong disapproval,
We are outraged that the CEO of Indiana’s largest abortion operations has been given this honor. Planned Parenthood makes millions of dollars every year in Indiana by dismembering children piece-by-piece in the womb. When did Indiana begin to honor people for overseeing the killing of children? History will show this to be a tragic, embarrassing and foolish recognition by the State of Indiana.
Evidently, the new criteria for being honored by state officials is directly proportional to the number of limbs ripped from babies in the womb.
Cockrum has directed Planned Parenthood of Indiana’s barbarous operations since 2002, which includes abortion mills in Merrillville, Lafayette, Indianapolis and Bloomington.
According to an Indiana Right to Life statement,
A conservative estimate is that Planned Parenthood has killed more than 50,000 unborn children by abortion in its Indiana abortion operations under Cockrum’s management.
Perhaps the Torchbearer Award now refers to the murderous mob of Planned Parenthood, which grabs their torches and pitchforks every time they go off on one of their typical vicious assaults, smear campaigns, and invective rants against any life-affirming individual, organization, or legislation that they deem to be a threat to the liberal sacrament of the slaughter of the innocents.
In fact, during Cockrum’s tenure, the state of Indiana has been saddled with millions of dollars in legal fees fighting the never-ending lawsuits brought against the state by Planned Parenthood. In 2005, under Cockrum, Planned Parenthood refused to comply with Attorney General Steve Carter’s request to turn over the records of 73 girls under the age of 14 to the state as part of their investigation into Medicaid fraud.
Shame on the state of Indiana, which has forever snuffed out the honor once associated with the Torchbearer Award. Instead, this award will forever emit the blackness and stench of death.
