Using military construction units only makes sense since they are already being paid for being in the military, so using them would cut out the high labor cost of building the wall.
Democrats are threatening to block any budget spending bill that provides funding for the border wall and Trump had previously threatened to shutdown the government if the spending bill didn’t include funding for the border wall.
In his latest threat, he said that if Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi don’t get Democrats to fund the border wall in the spending bill, that he will resort to having the military build the wall.
To date, that’s the smartest threat Trump has made yet, concerning the border wall.
Fox News – Trump threatens to have military build border wall if Pelosi, Schumer won’t budge – President Trump threatened Tuesday to have the military “build the remaining sections” of the U.S.-Mexico border wall, appearing to revive a call to use Pentagon money to finish the project ahead of a meeting with congressional Democratic leaders opposed to the president’s funding request.
“People do not yet realize how much of the Wall, including really effective renovation, has already been built. If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall. They know how important it is!” Trump vowed, capping a series of tweets meant to set the stage for the White House summit.
For their part, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer put out a joint statement Monday arguing Trump and his party will own a government shutdown if they can’t strike a deal…
I’ve been advocating, ever since Donald Trump was sworn into office that he should use the military to build his border wall.
The military as a number of construction units that have rebuilt cities overseas, so why not have them build the border wall to protect Americans?
Ask any contractor and he/she will tell you that labor is usually the highest single cost of any major project and having the military build the wall would basically eliminate that cost, making the wall cost only half of what has been projected.
Many Americans would rather see our military building our border wall than building structures and cities in the Middle East for nations that hate us.
