Democrats were so concerned that allowing President Donald Trump to place justices on the Supreme Court would greatly tip the court to the conservative side.
Democrats were not happy with the nomination of Neil Gorsuch, but they were vehemently opposed to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.
Kavanaugh had a reputation of being a staunch constitutional judge, which frightened Democrats.
However, in recent weeks, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch have ruled differently on two of the last three cases.
The most recent division between the Trump picks was when Kavanaugh sided with the liberal justices in the case of a Texas cop killer facing execution.
Fox News – Gorsuch, Kavanaugh on opposite sides again, this time on delay of Texas cop killer’s execution – U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday sided with liberal justices in a ruling that delayed the execution of a cop killer amid claims that religious freedom would be violated if the death-row inmate’s Buddhist spiritual adviser wasn’t present during his final moments.
The nation’s highest court blocked the execution of Patrick Murphy about two hours after he could have been executed. Murphy is a member of the “Texas 7” gang of escaped prisoners who are awaiting the death penalty over the fatal shooting of a suburban Dallas police officer.
Murphy’s attorney argued that Texas prison officials were violating his client’s First Amendment right to freedom of religion by preventing the inmate’s spiritual adviser, a Buddhist priest, from witnessing the execution…
In this latest case involving the Texas cop killer, I find myself siding with Kavanaugh and the liberal justices.
If the prisons allow the Christian and Muslim advisers in he chamber with the prisoner being executed then yes, they need to allow the spiritual advisers of other religions in the chamber as well.
Just as long as this cop killer is executed, the sooner the better is what matters.
He needs to face the final eternal judge and then serve his eternal punishment.
