The many migrant caravans we’ve heard about in the news originate from what has become known as the Northern Triangle – Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
Tens of thousands of migrants from the three Latin American countries have been traveling over a thousand miles, mostly on foot, for the sole purpose of illegally crossing into the United States in hopes of getting the benefits promised them by Democrats.
Last year, President Donald Trump threatened the governments of the three countries that if they didn’t take measure to stop their people from heading to the United States.
Last week, President Trump kept his promise and ordered that all aid to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala be stopped, hoping to force the countries’ leadership to take action to stop the caravans from forming and leaving their borders.
The Epoch Times – Trump Follows Up on Promise to Cut Aid to Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala – President Donald Trump has ordered for the stopping of aid to the Northern Triangle countries of Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, after criticizing them for failing to stem the tide of their citizens traveling north and entering the United States illegally.
Trump has mentioned stopping the aid several times since at least October and State Secretary Mike Pompeo has now instructed the department to do so.
“At the Secretary’s instruction, we are carrying out the President’s direction and ending [fiscal year] 2017 and [fiscal year] 2018 foreign assistance programs for the Northern Triangle,” a State Department spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “We will be engaging Congress as part of this process.” …
Trump also needs to cut all aid to Mexico who has repeatedly failed to stop the caravans, which they have promised to do.
Not only has Mexico failed to stop the caravans, but by the time the caravans reach the US border, they have usually more than doubled or tripled in size, largely with Mexicans who join in hopes of getting into the United States.
Personally, I believe that Trump needs to keep his promise of shutting down the southern border until such time as the border wall has been completed and increased border security put in place.
And if Democrats don’t like it, then let them move south of the border with the people they value more than American citizens.
