❖ Dr. Adam Carrington: The government shutdown over the border showdown

Dr. Adam Carrington is an assistant professor of politics at Hillsdale College. Recently, he penned an article about the shutdown over the border conflict that was published in Fox News Opinion. He noted: “Few issues ignite a firestorm like the issue of immigration. Its power to motivate political argument makes sense, for behind it stand fundamental questions of law and order, national security, political identity, and human rights. It touches on some of our most fundamental principles and deepest self-understandings.” Dr. Adam Carrington joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this ongoing conflict.

❖ Dr. Michael Brown on the Christian response to President Trump

Trending: Thanks to Democrats, Most Dangerous Place in America is the Womb

President Trump and evangelicals have a surprisingly positive relationship. Dr. Michael Brown, a Christian educator, author, columnist, and radio host, has written a new book on that surprising relationship. The title is Donald Trump Is Not My Savior: An Evangelical Leader Speaks His Mind About the Man He Supports as President. Brown asks, “Have we refrained from any criticism so we can keep our seat at the table? Have we ignored major character issues to preserve our political power? Have we become more identified publicly with our President than with our Savior? Have we confused patriotism with the kingdom of God?” Dr. Michael Brown joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss a Christian response to President Trump.

❖ Jim Stovall shares his inspirational story and faith journey

Recently, there was a Fox TV meteorologist who has a husband and two children and her whole life ahead of her. She underwent surgery for her eyesight. It was botched, apparently costing her sight. Tragically, she killed herself at the prospect of going blind. Meanwhile, when he was a young man, Jim Stovall, who lives in Tulsa, received the devastating news that he was going to lose his eyesight by about the age of 30. And he did. But fast-forward to today, about 30 years later. With God’s help, he has managed to write several best-selling books, including The Ultimate Gift. Some of his books have been turned into movies, including The Ultimate Gift, starring James Garner and Abigail Breslin. Stovall speaks all over the country at motivation conferences. Jim Stovall joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to share his inspirational story and faith journey. www.jimstovall.comg

❖ Art Moore: The Southern Poverty Law Center

Art Moore is a writer with World Net Daily. Recently the WND reported on a lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center (the SPLC). The controversial group has begun to be sued by various outlets. WND writes of this new suit: “The far-left Southern Poverty Law Center, which recently paid out millions of dollars to a target of its ‘anti-hate’ campaigns, has been sued by a lawyer who claims SPLC paid for stolen documents in an attempt to get him fired and destroy his future work prospects…. SPLC long has been held in esteem by the mainstream, but even that favor has started deteriorating, with the doubts now being expressed by the Washington Post.” Art Moore joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this new development.
