This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, Feb 25 – Mar 3, the topics are the media & Trump and the border issue, design in creation, the Cambrian Explosion, and a Pro-life update. Listen to VOCAL POINT Daily at MIDNIGHT, 6AM, NOON, 6PM, (Eastern Time) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.
❖ Steve Cortes
The national fight over border security continues. Steve Cortes is a political conservative commentator with CNN. A month ago, he was the pundit talking while his opponent was seen filing her nails, presumably to cavalierly dismiss the point he was making. It can be seen here This is the clip making the rounds, in which fellow CNN commentator Ana Navarro files her nails—while Steve Cortes is talking about a legal immigrant being murdered in America by an illegal immigrant. (The clip with the nail-filing is about 9:42 in.) Recently, Steve Cortes wrote a piece for realclearpolitics.com, called “Make Media Great Again,” in which he states: “MAGA hats are not KKK hoods, and supporting ‘America First’ policies does not equate to Nazism. It is imperative in these polarized times that the press regain trust by reining-in systemic bias and reclaiming the honorable role of journalists as truth-seekers, first and foremost.” Steve Cortes joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the media and Trump and the border issue. @cortessteve
❖ Dr. Ross Anderson
Dr. Ross Anderson, a science professor at Master’s University in Santa Clarita, CA (John MacArthur is the president), is a former evolutionist. He lost a job when he became a creation scientist. He writes “Take a moment to look around you. Every man-made object, simple or complex, had its beginnings in someone’s mind. It first started as an idea, a mental construct, usually with some function(s) to perform. Then it went to the drawing board or computer where the object began to take shape. In time, the object was manufactured and used for its intended purpose(s). The same can be said for every created thing in nature: all of God’s creations had their origin in his mind before he brought them forth.” Dr. Ross Anderson joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss design in creation, including the fruit fly. www.masters.edu
❖ Dr. Matt McClain
Eons ago there was a huge explosion of life that can be found in the fossil record. It is known as the “Cambrian Explosion,” and it has been labeled as “biology’s big bang.” What is it? And does it matter in the debate over origins—creation/evolution. Dr. Matt McClain is a professor of science at Master’s University in Santa Clarita, CA, where John MacArthur of “Grace to You” serves as the president. Dr. McClain, who teaches biology and geology and can be described as a “creationist paleontologist,” joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the Cambrian Explosion and its significance in the origins debate. www.masters.edu
❖ Micaiah Bilger
Abortion is constantly in the news. Micaiah Bilger files many reports for lifenews.com, including a recent article about a failed attempt by a Satanist group to try and derail a common sense pro-life law. A Satanic Temple in Missouri filed a lawsuit against a law in the “Shoe Me State,” requiring informed consent in advance of an abortion. The state Supreme Court dismissed the suit. This recent attempt is part of a larger picture of Satanists all around the country actively opposing pro-life activities—especially outside of abortion clinics. Bilger notes, “Breitbart once described the Satanic Temple’s actions as a ‘pro-abortion crusade to come to the aid of America’s largest abortion provider,’ Planned Parenthood.” Micaiah Bilger joins Jerry Newcombe for a pro-life update, including this recent story out of Missouri. www.lifenews.com
