This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (April 8 – April 14). Listen to VOCAL POINT Daily at MIDNIGHT, 6AM, NOON, 6PM, (Eastern Time) on

Jim Warner Wallace

According to many skeptics, Christians are supposedly anti-science. J. Warner Wallace, Christian author and apologist, does not agree. He was once a skeptic himself, until he was challenged to examine the Christian faith for himself. He notes, “Christianity isn’t anti-science, but is it anti-scientism. ‘Scientism’ is the belief that science is the only way to know anything.” Wallace used to be a Dateline-featured cold case detective. He is a senior fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He’s a professor at Biola and is the author of Cold Case Christianity. J. Warner Wallace joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss Christianity and science.

Adam Brandon, president of FreedomWorks, notes that the Democrat Party today is very divided. He observes, “What are so-called ‘justice democrats’? Perhaps, the most prominent among them is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. At SXSW [on a recent weekend], Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined Bill Nye in criticizing moderates in her own party and accusing Ronald Reagan of dividing America on race. Recently, tension has risen within the Democrat party between the establishment and this new wave of Bernie Sanders-inspired ‘Justice Democrats.’” Brandon told Fox News recently: “This is the Democratic base getting their pound of flesh after losing to Donald Trump. And make no mistake about it, they are socialist…this is gonna be a bloodbath.” Adam Brandon joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss fault lines within the current Democrat Party.

Ken Klukowski

Question. Is there a magnet at the threshold of your business, which takes away all your constitutional rights once you cross over that threshold? Well, tragically, many Christians in the wedding industry of late have been told that they MUST participate in celebrating same-sex weddings, regardless of conscience concerns, or they’ll be forced out of business or worse. Thankfully, the Supreme Court did not agree in the Masterpiece Cake case. Nonetheless, they did not address the full scope of the question in that case. Meanwhile, Sweet Cakes by Melissa was an Oregon-based company essentially forced out of business because of their non-willingness to bake a case for a same-sex “wedding.” They have been penalized $135,000+ for simply declining some business because their faith would not allow them to continue to do that. Ken Klukowski, a constitutional attorney with First Liberty, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the Sweet Cakes case, in light of last year’s Masterpiece Cake decision.

Terry Schilling

Terry Schilling is the executive director at American Principles Project. He writes about the surprise-hit movie, still in the theatres as of this recording: UNPLANNED. Schilling calls it “the courageous abortion film we’ve been waiting for.” He notes, “It explores dynamics within the pro-life movement between sidewalk counselors who offer hope to women and protestors who take a more aggressive approach.” Schilling writes, “All in all, UNPLANNED is a very persuasive movie. It’s not enjoyable in the traditional sense—it’s an emotional rollercoaster that will upset you repeatedly—but it is an incredibly powerful film that deliberately seeks a dialogue with people outside of the pro-life movement. This is what makes it so valuable and so important.” Terry Schilling talks with Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point about this movie that everyone concerned about life should plan to go and see.
