“The worst kind of betrayal.”

Those words about the recent budget vote in a Republican Congress from Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly. “[W]e thought we elected a bunch of good guys …We had a lot of fancy promises that the Republicans were going to shape up and change course. And they disappointed us. Betrayal,” she said, “is an appropriate word to describe it.”

Schlafly added, “[T]he grassroots are fed up with people who are running things, and they do want a change. They do want people to stand up for America.”

“The rich guys are putting the money in.,” she said. “They want to bring in the low-wage people. That’s the way they think they’ll make money. But that’s not the way America will prosper,” said Schlafly. “America was built because we had a great growing and prosperous middle class,” she added. “We need to rebuild that again.”
