“The government, through its representative, has now signaled that Christian schools may soon be treated like racists and pariahs.”
In the oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court this week, Justice Alito asked whether Christian universities would lose their tax exempt status if they opposed same-sex so-called marriage.
The Solicitor General Donald Verrilli responded, “I don’t deny that, Justice Alito…it is going to be an issue.”
But it’s more than losing its non-profit status. For-profit companies will also be forbidden to refuse homosexual so-called “marriages” if the Court redefines marriage. Christians who practice their faith will not be allowed to operate in the public square.
That’s why marriage matters and this Supreme Court case matters.
