When I was a boy, most Boy Scout leaders were honorable men who only wanted to help teach boys a variety of skills and how to grow up to be a self-sufficient adult.
My dad was a Boy Scout troop leader and a district commissioner.
He taught swimming, lifesaving, canoeing, first aid, tracking and surviving in the outdoors.
According to reports of a soon to be released records, other scout leaders weren’t as honorable as my dad.

More than 12,000 members of the Boy Scouts of America have been victims of sexual abuse since 1944, a number higher than previously known, a New York lawyer said Tuesday.
Jeff Anderson, who represents victims of sexual abuse, also said that files maintained by the Boy Scouts list more than 7,800 alleged perpetrators of sexual abuse — a figure that was also higher than what has been previously reported.
The existence of the Boy Scout files — known as the ‘perversion files,’ listing scoutmasters or troop leaders accused of sexual abuse — has been known since a 2012 court case in the state of Oregon.
Some of the files were ordered released led to a nearly $20 million judgment against the Boy Scouts on behalf of a man molested by a Scout leader in the 1980s…
The Boy Scouts of America reminds me of the Catholic Church in that for years they have hidden the facts of rampant sexual abuse by their leaders.
Both have protected the guilty while denying the victims.
Knowing that these files existed, one has to wonder why the Boy Scouts opted to allow homosexuals to be leaders and scouts.
Many said sexual abuse would occur then, not knowing it had already been going on.
Parents, DON’T let your sons be the next victim as the Boy Scouts are NOT what they used to be.
