Protesting Colin Kaepernick and Company

Barb Wire

Like so many other men across this once great country of ours, I love football. I really love pro-football, but I can’t stand what the NFL has become- another major institution that has been taken over, and is in the process of being ruined by Left. No doubt you’ve heard about 49er’s backup QB Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem, citing his belief that the country “oppresses black people, and people of color.” He’s also been spotted wearing socks with pigs in police uniforms on them. And naturally his protesting is now being copied by other NFL players, and even entire teams like the Seattle Seahawks who stood with arms linked in a show of “unity” as Terry Bradshaw translated in Orwellian newspeak. I guess it doesn’t matter that they are showing unity over a very divisive issue, in an extremely divided country, when most fans would rather just escape from the problems of the world for a few hours and enjoy a football game.

The NFL (as a private organization) is unwilling to take a stand for basic decency here, and demand that it’s players show respect to the flag, and anthem that represent the freedoms so many have fought and died for. While no one is disputing these multimillionaires’ right to protest a country that has given them the opportunity to become ridiculously wealthy, I have too have every right (and also the responsibility) to protest against their protest. KC Chiefs Cornerback Marcus Peters stood during the National Anthem with a black fisted glove in the air, and later explained “I come from a majority black community from Oakland, California … so the struggle, I seen it. I still have some family in the struggle. All I’m saying is we want to educate those, the youth that’s coming up.”

Hmm. What struggle would that be that he’s referring to in Oakland, CA? Is it the fact that it’s been run by Democrats since 1977, a number of whom have been black? The ten most violent cities in America are ALL run by Democrats! Furthermore we have a black Democrat president of the United States of America, which is still (for now) the freest and most prosperous country in world if you are willing to work hard, and apply yourself? Here’s another honest question for my friends on the left: Is President Obama himself evidence of the oppression of black people in America, or is he a part of the problem? I would certainly expect NFL players to understand that hard work pays off big time, (no matter what color you are) since so many of them have literally gone from rags to riches.

And since he mentioned educating “the youth that’s coming up,” I’m sure he would agree that the local public (AKA government) schools are doing horrible job of that. You could even argue based on his quote that he is evidence of that fact, and the fact that star athletes get special privileges in getting through school.  Only conservatives are in favor of allowing poor black parents to have the option to take their kids out of failing public schools, and send them to private schools where they can get a decent education. But blacks vote overwhelmingly (to the tune of 90+%) for Democrats. And Democrats oppose all such measures, because they are in bed with the very corrupt teachers unions, which have been instrumental in destroying those same public schools. The Left’s “answer” to failing schools is to throw more money at the problem, which if you think about it, amounts to rewarding your worst, most unproductive employee with a huge raise, and a promotion so he can cause more damage!

So I think we can agree that life in the hood is horrible, and that it’s not easy being black in America in 2016. The question is why? Unfortunately and tragically so many black babies don’t even survive inside their mother’s womb, since blacks make up about 13% of the population, but about 36% of the abortions are done by black women. Black kids who are fortunate enough to be born have an over 70% chance of being born in a household where their parents aren’t married. That’s an obvious recipe for disaster, but a fact that makes you “racist” if you dare mention it (and you’re white), or a “sell-out” if you’re black. So it’s not rocket science to figure out why there is a much higher violent crime rate in black neighborhoods across the country, and it’s ultimately black people who are the ones who are disproportionately impacted by that uncomfortable fact. It’s also worth noting that according to FBI statistics, 40% of cop killers are black, so according to Heather MacDonald of The Wall Street Journal, a cop is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male, than a cop is to shoot an unarmed black man.

So the bottom line is this: it takes zero courage for a black man in 2016 to kneel during the Star Spangled Banner in protest. You have the media, academia, the president, and countless other politicians on your side, but do you have the truth? Are you willing to point out, and even protest the root causes of why there is a larger police presence in black neighborhoods to begin with? Are you willing to investigate the real facts about blacks and police shootings? I doubt it, because if you did, you’d know that police are actually less likely to shoot black suspects than whites given similar circumstances. But these protests are based on truth, nor are they intended to bring about any sort of racial healing and reconciliation. The sad reality is that the left wants an “honest conversation about race” about as much as I’d like to have a bullet in my cranium.
