A commission led by a former U.S. surgeon general released a report on Thursday stating that the United States should allow cross-dressing transgenders to serve in the armed forces. The panel came to the ridiculous conclusion that there is no reason for the current ban and called on President Barack Obama to immediately lift it.
No reason? What about mental instability? The last thing we need are emotionally disturbed soldiers serving on the front lines. If cross-dressers are so confused that they can’t even figure out their own gender, how can we expect them to function properly under the extreme stress of a combat situation?
According to the Associated Press:
The five-member panel, convened by a think tank at San Francisco State University, said Department of Defense regulations designed to keep transgender people out of the military are based on outdated beliefs that require thousands of current service members either to leave the service or to forego the medical procedures and other changes that could align their bodies and gender identities.
Translation: They want the taxpayers to pay for their hormone treatments and gender reassignment surgeries–just like the recent decision by D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray who imposed the same liberal madness on his constituents. Then again, Democrats have always been very generous with other people’s money.
“We determined not only that there is no compelling medical reason for the ban,” said the commission led by Dr. Joycelyn Elders, President Bill Clinton’s first term surgeon general, “but also that the ban itself is an expensive, damaging and unfair barrier to health care access for the approximately 15,450 transgender personnel who serve currently in the active, Guard and reserve components.” (Remember: This is the same Dr. Elders who was fired by Pres. Clinton for her controversial comments about promoting masturbation, and she also pushed for “safer” bullets. Maybe Dr. Elders is now advocating for safer girlie soldiers.)
Expensive? You bet! The panel also estimated that sex change operations would cost about $30,000 each, but perhaps they’re hoping to get a group rate for 15,450 candidates. That ought to keep quite a few doctors busy for a while.
Unfair? It’s actually extremely unfair and damaging to morale to force rational troops to accommodate unstable individuals. I predict that we’ll soon be paying for more sensitivity indoctrination classes as well. That’s not to mention a whole host of other associated complications.
According to the Associated Press, there are a few voices of reason sounding the alarm:
But Center for Military Readiness President Elaine Donnelly, whose group opposed the repeal of the ban on openly gay troops, predicted that putting transgender people in barracks, showers and other sex-segregated facilities could cause sexual assaults to increase and infringe on the privacy of non-transgender personnel.
“This is putting an extra burden on men and women in the military that they certainly don’t need and they don’t deserve,” Donnelly said.
Or what happens when a transgender “female” demands the lower strength and endurance standards that are in place for biological women? Talk about weakening our military preparedness!
And what exactly does the Pentagon think would happen to a transgender service member captured in the field of battle in a Middle Eastern country? One thing is for sure, the Muslims won’t take too kindly to them “defiling” their holy ground.
That’s the problem with this whole crazy idea; it generates more questions than answers and will ultimately open up a huge can of worms. This commission seems to be equally as delusional as the cross-dressers.
The commission’s report says that the ban appears rooted in the psychiatric establishment’s long-held consensus that people who identify as transgender suffer from a mental disorder. However, that’s nothing that some high-pressure, homo-fascist intimidation and threats can’t overcome–just like when the American Psychiatric Association, absent even a shred of scientific evidence, declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1973. Bullying is being rewarded these days, don’t you know? Just ask Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer about that.
The panel was commissioned by the Palm Center, a think tank based at San Francisco State University, and funded by a $1.3 million grant from Jennifer Pritzker, a Chicago billionaire and former Army lieutenant colonel who came out as transgender last year. Wow, I didn’t realize that the going rate for validation these days cost upwards of a cool million dollars!
Retired Brigadier General Thomas Kolditz, a former Army commander and West Point professor on the commission, referred to Bradley Manning (a.k.a. “Chelsea” Manning), the Army private convicted of giving classified documents to WikiLeaks, as clear evidence that the stress associated with hiding one’s gender identity contributes to irrational behavior.
If these individuals are cracking under the pressure of merely hiding their identities, then what does this commission think might happen under the stress of being captured by the enemy–don’t they realize that cross-dressing transgenders might be required to conceal sensitive military secrets? Will they sell out their country under such pressure? Nevertheless, according to this panel, one unhinged traitor proves that our nation needs to revise a proven, two-centuries-old policy and allow the “inmates run the asylum.”
The commission recommended that the president issue an executive order allowing transgender people to serve openly. Uh-oh, there’s the President’s mighty pen again!
The White House on Thursday deflected all inquiries to the Department of Defense. The administration apparently has their hands quite full right now trying to convince everyone that Obamacare is a good thing.
“At this time there are no plans to change the department’s policy and regulations which do not allow transgender individuals to serve in the U.S. military,” said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, a defense department spokesman. But then again, perhaps President Obama will soon “evolve” on this issue as well, but not until after the 2014 midterm elections in November. Democrat evolution always seems to conveniently coincide with the conclusion of elections.
Is it me or am I the only one longing for the good old days, when Corporal Klinger of M.A.S.H. dressed in drag in order to get OUT of the military?
Honestly, the battlefield is not the place to play Barbie dress up games. It’s likely to get people killed.
