Hollywood reveled in political buffoonery at the Oscars this year. But it also continued revealing its hatred for God by awarding movies that promoted deviancy.
Others have written plenty about how the Oscar telecast was nothing more than hours of elitist entertainers ranting about politics. But pundits focused slightly less attention on how Hollywood gave its highest honors to films that provided propaganda for all sorts of evil.
On March 4, The Hollywood Reporter published the list of winners for the 90th Academy Awards. The biggest winner was the movie The Shape of Water, which won best picture, best director, and other awards. Other winners included Call Me by Your Name (best adapted screenplay) and A Fantastic Woman (best foreign-language film).
So what are these three films about?
The Free Beacon described The Shape of Water in a December 2017 review.
Elisa Esposito (Sally Hawkins), a mute maid who works for some wing of the Military-Industrial Complex, lives alone above a movie theater. She looks after her neighbor, Giles (Richard Jenkins), a gay, out-of-work ad man, and listens patiently to her chatty African-American coworker, Zelda (Octavia Spencer). Their lives are thrown into turmoil when Richard Strickland (Michael Shannon) shows up with an amphibious lagoon monster (Doug Jones) he and scientist Robert Hoffstetler (Michael Stuhlbarg) hope could serve as the key to defeating the Soviets in the space race.
The review goes on to state that, “Hoffstetler is secretly a Soviet spy, hoping to free the monster for the good of Mother Russia and the sake of science,” and that, “Strickland is cartoonishly villainous, first appearing before us in a literal black hat before betraying himself to be a bigot of various stripes: racist, sexist, and, perhaps worst of all, religious.”
Meanwhile, Craig Bannister at CNSNews.com noted that Call Me by Your Name is about a 24 year-old man who has sex with a teenage boy.
And an NBC News headline reveals all you need to know about A Fantastic Woman: “In a first, ‘Fantastic Woman’ wins Oscar with transgender lead.”
So Hollywood decided the best movie of 2017 was the one that featured communism and sodomy in a positive light, and a “religious” American as an outright villain. And it decided the best adapted screenplay was the movie that had a man having sex with a boy. The best foreign-language film was the one featuring a man pretending to be a woman.
Hollywood hating God is nothing new, and it will only grow in the coming years. The only thing surprising about it any longer is when you run into someone who tries to pretend it doesn’t exist.
