John Adams famously remarked: “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says reality is irrelevant. All that matters is the vision of the anointed.
If men are from Mars and women from Venus, the 29-year-old socialist (who’s now the youngest member of Congress) is from another galaxy.
Here are a just a few of the choicer Ocasio-isms:
Unemployment is low because people are holding two and three jobs. Medicare for all could be funded with Pentagon waste. Hondurans trying to get into the US with spurious claims of asylum are like Jews fleeing the Holocaust. Jews on the West Bank are driving up the cost of Palestinian housing. A 70% tax rate will spur productivity and job-creation. Thousands of rock-throwing “migrants” trying to storm our southern border (requiring tear gas to repel them) is a crisis manufactured by Trump.
When she was questioned about her more absurd claims on a “60 Minutes” interview broadcast last night, Commissar Klink got all huffy. Her critics are people “more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.”
But whose morality? Not Biblical morality – which has worked well over the course of three millennia, but the morality of the left, which over the last 100 years has led to genocide, slave-labor, gulags, secret police, torture cells, firing squads, planned famine, hyper-inflation and bread-lines.
The vision of the anointed leads to the suffering of the masses. But don’t get confused by reality.
