In June 2009, then Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl intentionally left his post in Afghanistan and ended captured by Taliban terrorists.
In March 2014, Barack Obama showed his contempt for the military, who considered Bergdahl a deserter, by releasing 5 top Taliban terrorists held at Gitmo in exchange for the release of Bergdahl.
Most of America, and especially the military, were outraged by Obama’s swap, believing that a deserter was not worth releasing the 5 Taliban leaders.
Obama said that the 5 promised to never return to their terrorist ways.
It’s not been announced that the same 5 Taliban leaders released by Obama, have joined the Taliban office in Qatar, indicating that all five did return to the terrorist organization as most of us believed they would.
American Military News – Five former Guantanamo Bay prisoners, senior members of the Afghan Taliban who were freed in exchange for former Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in 2014, have reportedly joined one of the Taliban’s political offices in the Middle East.
The “Taliban Five” have joined the group’s political office in Qatar, according to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.
The five men will apparently be a part of the group that tries to negotiate peace in Afghanistan.
“The Taliban are bringing back their old generation, which means the Taliban have not changed their thinking or their leadership,” Haroun Mir, political analyst in Kabul, told the Associated Press. “What we are more worried about is if tomorrow the Taliban say ‘we are ready to negotiate,’ who will represent Kabul? That is the big challenge because the government is so divided, not just ideologically but on ethnic lines.” …
At the time of Obama’s infamous swap of the Taliban 5 for a disgraced Army deserter, I knew a couple of people who were active military.
Both of them told me that they considered Obama’s actions an act of treason to the United States and betrayal to all US military personnel.
They both said that they fully expected the Taliban 5 to return to working with the Taliban and their terrorist activities and they were right.
Both of them told me there was no way they would take a bullet to protect Obama and didn’t know any of their fellow soldiers who would as they all felt the same about him.
