Obama a Bewildered Bystander on the World Stage

Barb Wire

Fifty-eight percent of voters call President Obama a “disengaged leader” according to a FOX News poll. Few could argue with that assessment in the wake of his ho-hum response to last Thursday’s Malaysian Airlines tragedy. A suspected missile attack brought down the 777 jetliner as it was flying over Ukraine, just 35 miles from the Russian border, killing all 298 passengers and crew on board. In his first public appearance, shortly after news of the disaster broke, the President spent less than a minute talking about it before quickly moving on to his planned agenda, which included a speech, a photo-op lunch, and two fundraisers in New York that night.

As global turmoil mounts in Russia, Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Israel and along the U.S.-Mexico border, America’s “Campaigner-in-Chief” continues to look like a bewildered bystander, rather than the leader of the free world. Please read my important update below and learn how you can call on Congress to end Barack Obama’s failed presidency. (Or click here now to take immediate action.)

No, while the world’s eyes, thoughts and prayers were on rising global chaos, it was business as usual for the imperial president. Choosing not to deviate from his planned schedule of events, the president delivered a speech in Delaware where he devoted 40 seconds to the deadly downing of the Malaysian Airlines flight. Then Mr. Obama spent the next 15 minutes telling bad jokes, delivering partisan attacks, and calling for more transportation spending. After saying a week earlier that “I’m not interested in photo ops,” the President later enjoyed a photo-op lunch at a barbecue restaurant before flying to New York City to attend two Democrat fundraisers that night — the 394th and 395th of his five-and-a-half-year presidency.

President Obama has failed as America’s Commander-in-Chief and leader of the free world.

A FOX News poll released last month indicates that 58 percent of voters think Barack Obama is a disengaged leader. That same poll also revealed that 80 percent of those surveyed think the U.S. is losing some of its standing in the world. The President’s non-response to Thursday’s tragedy only drove home that perception. In the face of growing global turmoil, Mr. Obama appears to be more a bewildered bystander than America’s Commander-in-Chief and the leader of the free world. Sadly, more and more in his second term, the President resembles a man who’s in over his head — way over his head. Every major crisis or issue seems to catch Barack Obama by surprise. And his reaction to every single one of them has been inadequate and ineffective. It’s an amazing list:

The Benghazi terror attacks
The botched ObamaCare rollout
The IRS targeting of conservatives
The VA scandal
The rise of terrorists in Iraq
The illegal immigration crisis
The recent violence in Israel and Gaza

The real question is: When will the American people finally have enough of President Obama’s weak, disengaged leadership. Enemies of the United States are becoming emboldened by our “Bystander-in-Chief.”

In his latest attempts to “connect” with Americans, the President has been seen shooting pool, drinking beer, and going to coffee houses and restaurants. Lately, when Mr. Obama ventures beyond the walls of the White House for these photo-ops (in which he’s not interested), the President’s Twitter feed announces: “The bear is on the loose.” A “bear” IS indeed “loose.” But it’s not President Obama. It’s Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and he’s on the prowl. It’s going to take a strong leader to “cage” Mr. Putin before he wreaks even more havoc on the world stage.

There’s just too much at stake for America to be weakened by a president like Barack H. Obama. Time and again, he has shown that he’s not up to the challenge of doing what it takes to protect the United States and her interests at home and abroad. That’s why Liberty Counsel Action is empowering you to call on Congress to draft Articles of Impeachment against President Obama.

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Republicans in the House are moving ahead with their plans to file a lawsuit against the President. They want the courts to compel Mr. Obama to obey and enforce the law. Mr. Boehner has repeatedly said that this pending lawsuit isn’t about politics; it’s about protecting the Constitution. But if the Speaker wants to “preserve, protect and defend” one of America’s founding documents, he should also convene a congressional inquiry to determine if President Obama should be impeached.

As a constitutional attorney, I believe that compelling evidence exists to remove Barack Obama from office. He has repeatedly failed to fulfill his oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.” Call on the Speaker to do more than file a lawsuit against the President. Liberty Counsel Action is giving you a direct line to John Boehner’s office on Capitol Hill
