The Republican Party Platform has a strong support for Israel and opposes the so-called BDS — the “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” movement.
Mat Staver: You know, within Republicans and Democrats you’re probably going to have this one unique area where there is closer agreement with regards to Israel. Everything else you veer off in completely different directions. But clearly the Republican Platform that just came out has a very strong statement in support of Israel. And also for the very first time, to my knowledge, any party platform specifically opposes the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. That is this movement, particularly one that’s taking place on college campuses, that in fact advocates that we should boycott Israel. That we should impose sanctions and we should divest. In other words, any operation, any educational outreach, any financial support, ought to be simply divested from Israel.
Not only is it bad from a common sense perspective, since Israel produces so much of what affects our daily lives, but it is very anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. So, the Republican Platform is standing strongly against this BDS movement…
