New Hope for Marriage

You’ve probably heard that half of America’s marriages end in divorce–including those in the church. But, what do you know? It’s not true.

When Harvard-trained researcher Shaunti Feldhahn tried to find the actual research to prove the demoralizing predictions, she couldn’t. So she began an eight year mission to find the truth.

Feldhahn’s research estimates the overall divorce rate for the country is around 31 percent–with those who regularly attend church–closer to 15 or 20 percent. The numbers of those with multiple marriages (and divorces) are driving the numbers up.

For those who don’t live together before getting married, the odds of divorce drop to 5 or 10 percent.

Feldhahn said, “…we can change the paradigm from discouragement to hope.”
