Last year, Mexico promised President Trump that they would stop migrant caravans from crossing their southern border with Guatemala and stop existing caravans from reaching the US border.
We’ve already seen that Mexico has been useless in trying to stop the existing caravans from reaching the US border or even trying to stop them from crossing into the US.
A recent report indicates that the gates at Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala were left wide open, allowing a new caravan of at least 1,000 to cross into Mexico on their journey to the US.
The actions clearly show that Mexico cares nothing about keeping their promise with Trump.
Fox News – Migrant caravan freely crosses Mexican border after gates were left open, authorities avoided ‘confrontation’ – Around 1,000 Central American migrants marched freely through the Guatemala-Mexico border on Friday after the gates were left wide open, with Mexican authorities standing down from confronting the caravan.
The border gates were open only temporarily, but migrants – who crossed the bridge from Tecun-Uman to Ciudad Hidalgo – were surprised to find no locks on the gates, effectively giving them a free pass to enter the country without being stuck at the border or registering with immigration officials and now begin the trek to the U.S. border, which can range from between 1,000 to 2,500 miles depending on the point of entry.
There was little presence of police or border security officials. A Mexican official told Fox News that they “did not want to confront” the migrant caravan, fearing the repetition of last year’s incident where violent clashes between police and the migrants broke out…
It’s time for Trump to stop making idle threats.
He needs to cut off all aid to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
Then he needs to take some kind of strong action against Mexico.
However, first of all, Trump needs to immediately deploy at least 20,000 military troops along our southern border with orders to stop any and all illegal border crossings with whatever measures are necessary to protect our country from invasion.
