CitizenLink — Imagine you own a farm. You decide to turn it into a family friendly business. You invite people to bring their kids to pick blueberries, hunt for pumpkins or walk through a corn maze. That’s Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke, New York.
People liked the farm so much, they began asking to get married there. The Giffords opted to take the wedding business, but because of their deeply held Christian beliefs, they made a firm decision not to accept same-sex ceremonies.
That decision recently brought the full weight of state government down on their heads. New York has redefined marriage, and in spite of “religious protections” in state law, officials still fined the family $13,000 and demanded that they open up their home to such ceremonies.
In the CitizenLink Report, the Giffords share about their ordeal, and our ally, Jason McGuire with New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, shares some insights into this outrageous trampling of religious freedom.
