Yes, you read that right – thanks to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
During Mueller’s investigation into Russia election interference and possible collusion with trump and his campaign, he recommended that the Department of Justice investigate allegations against long-time Clinton insider Tony Podesta, and his company the Podesta Group, and Barack Obama’s White House Counsel Greg Craig, who served in that position from January 2009 to January 2010.
Additionally, Mueller also suggested the DOJ investigate former Rep. Vin Weber (R-MN).
According to reports coming out of Washington, the DOJ is acting on Mueller’s recommendations, which is causing a stir in some Washington circles.
Fox News – Mueller-referred probe into Obama White House Counsel Greg Craig, Clinton-linked Tony Podesta heats up: report – An investigation referred to Justice Department prosecutors by Special Counsel Robert Mueller earlier this year into possible criminal activity by Clinton-linked Washington insider Tony Podesta and former Obama White House Counsel Greg Craig is heating up, according to a new report that underscores federal authorities’ increasing enforcement of laws governing foreign business relationships.
The inquiries center not only on Craig and Podesta — a Democratic lobbyist and co-founder of the onetime lobbying powerhouse known as the Podesta Group — but also on Vin Weber, a former GOP congressman from Minnesota.
The probes had been quiet for months since Mueller referred them to authorities in New York City because they fell outside his mandate of determining whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia.
But in a flurry of new activity, Justice Department prosecutors in the last several weeks have begun interviewing witnesses and contacting lawyers to schedule additional questioning related to the Podesta Group and Mercury Public Affairs, people familiar with the inquiry anonymously told the Associated Press…
Those closest to the investigations say they believe the investigations are heating up now because the general consensus in Washington is that the Mueller investigation is winding down and will soon be over.
That would be one of the best Christmas presents that President Donald Trump, his 2016 campaign and millions of conservative Americans could get politically speaking.
While it seems great that Mueller actually urged the DOJ to investigate a close Clinton insider and an Obama counsel, many, including myself, have been waiting for an Attorney General who will do the right thing and investigation all of the many allegations made against Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Foundation, the Democratic National Committee, the Clinton 2016 campaign, Fusion GPS, Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya and many others.
It’s time for Democrats to sweat for a while. Then and only then will justice really be served.
