Hugs from Barack, Hubris from Michelle

The most visible ex-president and former first lady in history have a pair of look-at-me/look-at-me books out.

Barack’s is simply and eloquently titled, “Hugs From Barack: A Photographic Look At the Warmth and Wisdom of President Obama,” with pictures of the 44th  President doing what he did best – emoting, clasping to his bosom various and sundry. Obama had compassion for everyone except taxpayers, Christians who didn’t want to be forced to participate in same-sex ceremonies, and those who liked their doctors and their health care plans and wanted to keep them.

One of the objects of presidential solicitude was Sandra Fluke, the law student who tearfully testified before Congress about the tragedy of Georgetown University (a nominally Catholic School) refusing to pay for her contraceptives.” Oh, the heartache. Oh the anguish.

When Rush Limbaugh called her a bad name, President Obama gave Sandra a telephonic hug to reassure her that she not only had a Constitutional right to fornicate, but the school had a duty to pay for the birth control of a woman who soon would be making a six-figure income.

Michelle’s autobiography, “Becoming Michelle Obama,” is just out. Becoming Michelle? She had to work at becoming the miracle that she is?

To claim coveted victim status, Michelle whined that she’ll never forgive President Trump for bringing up the “birther” issue in the 2016 campaign – the theory that her husband was born in Kenya and that what was presented as his birth certificate was a forgery.

Michelle said the theory was not only bigoted and xenophobic but put her family in danger. “What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington looking for our girls? Donald Trump with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I will never forgive him.”

Besides the absurdity of someone being driven to violence by the suggestion that the president was born outside the United States, the First Family is guarded by a legion of Secret Service agents in a building more secure that Fort Knox.

If suggesting that Barack’s birth certificate may be a phony is a spur to violence, what’s the effect of 24/7 charges that Trump is a racist who’s in the process of establishing a fascist dictatorship? The shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise and assaults on members of his administration?

If Michelle is still trembling with fright for the safety of her family, I know where she can get a reassuring hug.
