The House of Representatives voted to defund abortion giant Planned Parenthood on Wednesday, sending the bill to President Obama’s desk—the first time a bill to defund Planned Parenthood has gone to the desk of any president.

The vote was 240-181 with Republicans voted 239-3 to defund Planned Parenthood and Democrats voting 1-178 against it.

While Obama has promised to veto the bill, this long-overdue achievement points to the importance of electing a pro-life president, who will sign such a bill when elected.

The bill would block the majority of federal payments to Planned Parenthood and according to a Congressional report, that would save the federal government $235 million dollars and several thousand babies’ lives.
