Most of the migrant caravans that have sought to illegally invade the United States have originated in the Central American nations of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
Additionally, as they march north through Mexico, they often pick up a number of Mexicans who also want to illegally enter the US.
Earlier this year, President Trump threatened the Central American countries that if they didn’t stop the caravans that they could lose financial aid they are currently receiving from the US.
Instead of the caravans being stopped, the number of caravans have increased, prompting President Trump to again threaten cutting off aid to three Central American countries.
The Hill – Trump threatens to cut aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador – President Trump on Friday threatened to cut foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, accusing the Central American countries of “doing nothing for the United States but taking our money.”
“Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are doing nothing for the United States but taking our money,” Trump tweeted.
“Word is that a new Caravan is forming in Honduras and they are doing nothing about it. We will be cutting off all aid to these 3 countries – taking advantage of U.S. for years!”
This is not the first time that Trump has threatened stop providing foreign aid to countries he says are not doing enough to stop migrant caravans from forming…
Many parents just threaten their kids but never carry out the threats resulting in the kids continuing to do what they are warned not to because they know nothing will happen.
Trump needs to show Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador that he is not like those parents.
Since this is the second time he has made this threat, he needs to make it happen or stop making these kinds of threats.
It’s time for President Trump to put up or shut up, and hopefully, he’ll put up and if necessary, make the same threat with Mexico if they don’t do more to stop the caravans traveling through their nation.
