GOP Senators Turning Against Trump on Mexican Tariffs

It’s no secret that not only Democrats hate President Donald Trump, but so do some Republicans, especially some in the Senate.

Sadly, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is the leading Trump-hating RINO, leading many Republicans that I know here in Kentucky to never vote for him again.

Another Trump-hating Republican in the Senate is Mitt Romney, but Romney brought on himself and when Trump responded in kind, Romney joined ranks with McConnell.

After President Trump announced that he would place tariffs on Mexico if they did not do something to stop the flood of illegal aliens, McConnell, Romney and many other Senate Republicans came out against Trump.

The National Sentinel – Gorka: GOP leaders in Senate ‘betraying’ POTUS Trump — again — over Mexican tariffs – Former presidential adviser Dr. Sebastian Gorka blasted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other “RINO” members of the Senate GOP caucus for opposing POTUS Donald Trump’s decision to levy an escalating tariff regime on Mexico for failing to do more to interdict illegal aliens enroute to the United States.

On Tuesday, McConnell told reporters in a classic understatement, “There is not much support in my conference for tariffs, that’s for sure,” when discussing the president’s plan to impose a 5 percent tariff on Mexican imports beginning June 10, then steadily raising them throughout the remainder of this year until they reach 25 percent.

The Associated Press reported:

At a lengthy closed-door lunch meeting at the Capitol, senators took turns warning Trump officials there could be trouble if the GOP-held Senate votes on disapproving the tariffs. Congressional rejection would be a stiff rebuke to Trump, even more forceful than an earlier effort to prevent him from shifting money to build his long-promised border wall with Mexico.

The American people need to be demanding solutions to the immigration crisis from our national leaders.

No one likes a tariff, but Mexico has failed to keep their prior promises to stop illegal immigration from their country into ours.

Therefore, Trump has no alternative, except to make Mexico pay for the costs the US is faced with due to the illegal immigration.

The alternative, and what I would do, is to place thousands of active military along with border with orders to stop all illegal immigration and I would give them the tools they need to carry that out including weapons.
