Constitutional law expert Mat Staver believes homosexual activists and liberal legal experts want homosexuality to trump religion.
OneNewsNow — President Obama is proposing executive orders that would implement – at least at the federal level – the effect of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), legislation that contains broad religious exemptions. But Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, notes several homosexual groups have withdrawn support for such executive action because it does not compel religious groups to accept their agenda.
“I think it ought to wake up the American people and certainly legislators to see what the end game here is,” Staver tells OneNewNow. “It’s not non-discrimination, it’s not tolerance: it is absolute dominance particularly not only of all worldviews but of the Christian and Judeo-Christian worldview. That’s really what this is about.”
Meanwhile, Columbia Law School has issued a letter to Obama asking that he support what homosexual activists are asking for. Staver, who is also dean of the Liberty University School of Law, explains a trend he has seen develop among liberal legal experts.
“The legal profession, particularly in the legal academy and the law schools, has long ago lost the concept of the rule of law,” he laments. “It’s just driven by ideology. In fact, most law schools have left-leaning ideologues as professors and faculty. And so I take every one of their opinions with a grain of salt.”
According to Staver, they are not stating law but instead are stating their view of it “disguised as legal mumbo jumbo.”
