Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates Takes Helm of Boy Scouts, Supports Homosexual Leaders

First there was last year’s disastrous decision to permit openly “gay” youth to participate in scouting. Now, the Boy Scouts of America may have taken another step towards the homosexual ruination of the century-old Texas-based organization.

At its annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, the BSA announced that former Defense Secretary and Eagle Scout, Robert Gates, had been selected as its new president on Thursday. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson was expected to become the new president this year, be he graciously agreed to wait two years while Gates served in the volunteer post.

The former secretary of defense presided over the military’s ill-advised termination of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Some also view Gates’ appointment as a ploy to woo back major sponsors, such as Lockheed Martin and Intel Corp., who withdrew their funding over BSA policies that they consider to be discriminatory.

Gates hardly had a moment to take a breath before he was confronted with the inevitable question: What does the man closely connected with the policy change that allowed homosexual soldiers to serve openly in the U.S. military think about the Scouts’ current ban on gay leaders? And he addressed that issue during a Friday interview with the Associated Press, only a day after Scouting’s national leadership elected him president.

First, Gates affirmed his support for the organization’s decision to abandon its historic Scout Oath to remain “morally straight,” and he explained that he would emphasize to all scouting sponsors that “welcoming ‘gay’ youth is an important step forward.” Who would have ever thought that we’d live to see the day when sexual deviancy was celebrated as some kind of great societal advancement or achievement? Sad day indeed.

The new BSA president also said that it’s time for “blunt talk” about how the Scouts can remain relevant while holding onto their core values. It’s truly hard to imagine how Gates was able to say such a thing with a straight face — pun intended. Unless the Boy Scouts plan to reverse last year’s decision to embrace homosexuality, they should really drop the ridiculous pretense about upholding moral values.

“I was prepared to go further than the decision that was made,” Gates asserted in an interview with the Associated Press prior to his scheduled speech before the group’s national leaders. “I would have supported having ‘gay’ Scoutmasters, but at the same time, I fully accept the decision that was democratically arrived at by 1,500 volunteers from across the entire country.” Unfortunately, this statement represents the tragic viewpoint of many, especially when we consider the disproportionate rate at which homosexual males commit child-sex abuse. Therefore, protecting children must take precedent over political correctness. A change in policy allowing “gay” troop leaders would not only put our young boys at great risk by creating a pedophile’s playground, but it would also most assuredly amount to the final nail in the Boy Scout’s coffin.

“The ongoing controversy [of allowing “gay” scouts] has likely taken its toll, as the group saw a 6 percent drop in membership in 2013, compared to a more annualized rate of 4 percent. The six percent was less than what some conservative Boy Scout supporters had predicted would leave after allowing gay scouts, but still is part of a long-term withering of the 2.5 million-scout organization,” Patrik Jonsson reported for the Christian Science Monitor. And permitting “gay” leaders would almost certainly accelerate the BSA decline in membership.

Furthermore, a number of Bible-supporting conservatives also broke away from the Boy Scouts to form Trail Life USA, an outdoor adventure alternative which has declared sexual activity outside of marriage and homosexuality as “sinful before God.”

“Given the strong feelings — the passion — involved on both sides of this matter,” Gates stated in an attempt to assuage the worst fears of some, “I believe strongly that to re-open the membership issue or try to take last year’s decision to the next step would irreparably fracture and perhaps even provoke a formal, permanent split in this movement — with the high likelihood neither side would subsequently survive on its own.”

However, if there’s one thing we know about the relentless assault of the militant homofascist activists, it will most likely be just a matter of time before the Boy Scouts cave on this issue too. Gates has already participated in undermining the morale and cohesion of the greatest military fighting force in the world. If he had no problem jeopardizing our national security for the “gay” agenda, what makes anyone think he won’t inevitably do the same as the head of the Boy Scouts.

Parents who haven’t already pulled their boys out of scouting need to remain keenly vigilant regarding any potential changes to this policy. The safety of their children is a stake.
