Donald Trump’s Early Legacy

Barb Wire

In the Donald Trump presser shortly after he reached the magic number of 1237 to clinch the Republican party’s nomination for President, a reporter asked Trump about Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren’s recent attacks on him. Trump interjected, “You mean Pocahontas?” with the most mischievous little boy grin on his face. It was a moment to savor.

A leftist female among the gaggle of reporters shouted out something about it not being a nice comment, and Trump in a masterful in-your-face to the leftist, repeated the name. Every patriot viewing the event, I am certain, breathed a collective fist-pumping sigh of “Yes!” in overwhelming support of Trump’s not backing down to the media clowns.

The CNN cable news network’s Ashleigh Banfield (host of “Legal View”) on her show went through the usual talking-head meltdown regarding Trump’s performance at the press conference. Banfield hammered conservative guest, Scottie Hughes, on the appropriateness of Trump’s calling Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas.” Hughes responded that it was Warren who claimed American Indian heritage, and I think it was to take advantage of one of the Left’s sacred cows, affirmative action.

I highlight this instance of Trump’s refusal to cower to leftist double-standards for this reason. I firmly believe this particular aspect of his winning strategy has changed the playing field forever in the battle for the soul of America. Donald Trump has driven a stake through the demon that is “political correctness.”

Because of Trump’s fearlessness, average Americans are now boldly exercising their First Amendment right to free speech and refusing to be cowered by leftists in their midst. Even political leaders are speaking out.

Recently, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton unloaded on Nevada Senator Harry Reid, the Minority Leader, in an epic speech from the Senate floor.* Senator Cotton proceeded to shred Senator Reid, lamenting that he, Cotton, is “forced to listen to the bitter, vulgar, incoherent ramblings” of the Senator on a regular basis.

This barbed statement followed Reid’s bashing of the Republicans for rushing to pass a defense bill. Senator Cotton sarcastically added, “When was the last time the Minority Leader read a bill? It was probably an electricity bill.” He also characterized Reid’s leadership as “cancerous.” This beat down of a pernicious leftist like Harry Reid is priceless.

Another great example of standing up to the media, a la Donald Trump, is a recent episode occurring on Fox Business News.

Trish Regan of “The Regan Report” was discussing with her guest how law enforcement is refusing to do proactive policing. It’s called the “Ferguson Effect.” Police officers have ceased putting their lives on the line in black crime-ridden communities, because they know leftist Democrat officials will not cover their backs if they do so. Consequently, murder and other crimes are up exponentially in hell holes masquerading as cities, run by mostly black Democrats.

Regan’s guest for this segment was Clarence Mason Weaver, a long-time activist black conservative (author of the book It’s Okay to Leave the Plantation). Regan assumed that because Weaver is black, he would buy in to her pathetic pandering to the Black Lives Matter position that police are the black community’s greatest threat. Weaver masterfully set her straight with this glaring truth. Police officers are the only protection from black thugs and criminals who infest those communities.

Trish Regan actually displayed a degree of disgust when she realized Weaver would not play her silly game. She then compared a hypothetical encounter with the police that she might have to an encounter that he might have as a black man. Her goal was to elicit criticism of the different treatment officers apply to black men. Weaver explained to Regan, in her liberal ignorance, that police would approach him differently but most likely because the majority of their encounters with black men is confrontational and sometimes deadly. It is not because of racism but rather a reflection of their experiences. (Duh!) Such reasoning is the common-sense thinking that liberal leftists throughout all media are sorely lacking.

I am hopeful that more political leaders, such as Senator Cotton and more conservative spokespeople, such as Clarence Weaver will follow Donald Trump’s lead and lay into liberal leftists with a vengeance. Force-feed them the garbage they have heaped on everyday Americans for so long. It’s about time the tables were turned.

This man Donald Trump is in my view a god-send, whether or not one believes he has entered the stage by divine direction or by fluke.

Divine direction may well be the force behind what is happening in the country. Throughout human existence, Almighty God has used ordinary men (sometimes extremely flawed men) to accomplish His will. He has also throughout human existence heard the cries of suffering believers and heeded those cries.

I don’t know what God’s designs are, I’m not a prophet, but I do know that I am very grateful this man Trump has taken up the gauntlet in defense of America. I thank Almighty God for that, whether or not He is the driving force behind our good fortune.
