Doctrines of Demons & the Wrath to Come

Ballard Presbyterian Church

I grew up in the Presbyterian Church, a little white chapel with a bell in the steeple built in 1898 by the congregation.   It is still standing in Ballard, California. It is a mortuary now, attended only by dead people.  The church has grown into a new, larger facility across the road.

As kids in that little church we were taught to love God and love one another, the Great Commandment.  And we were taught the basics of historic Christianity, essentials taught by many denominations: man rebelled in the Garden by the temptation of the Devil, the whole world fell into sin as a result, Jesus came to take our penalty for sin, everyone who believes in Him is forgiven and promised heaven, the Scriptures are the inerrant, infallible Word of God.

Much of what we were taught at Ballard Church is being contradicted by the church today.  The leadership just recently decided that the Word of God can mean whatever they want it to mean, that homosexual practice, even same sex marriage, are entirely acceptable.

It is heartbreaking reading the news today about decisions made by leadership in the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA).  Regional Presbyteries must approve of this decision.  This fight has been raging for years, causing much division, and prompting many churches to break away.  Our small congregation broke with PCUSA about a year ago after it affirmed homosexual clergy and same sex unions.

It is incredible to see people twist the Scripture to justify sin.

PCUSA leaders tell us that homosexuality is great and the church will now perform same sex marriage ceremonies.  Homosexual practice has been condemned by the Old and New Testament Scriptures for thousands of years.  Yet, the modern mind presumes to know better than the God of love.

God says ‘no’ to certain things because they are destructive.

In First Corinthians 6 we read:  9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined[d] to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

There are many other references that plainly prohibit homosexual practice and address all manner of sexual sin.

Notice this admonition in First Corinthians does not single out homosexuality, but mentions a range of sinful behaviors.  Either we abide God’s intended purpose for things, or we live outside his will, eventually, forever.

God says ‘no’ because certain things are destructive, and science bears this out.  The homosexual lifestyle is especially destructive, as the research shows:

  • Shortened lifespans
  • Terrible, often fatal diseases, including the range of STDs, various cancers and HIV
  • Higher rates of suicide compared to the rest of the population
  • Higher rates of multiple partners, broken relationships, promiscuity
  • Higher incidence of emotional and psychological difficulties
  • Higher rates of domestic violence

Obviously, it is not an act of love to encourage people to embrace, promote and participate in this ‘lifestyle’ choice, for it is a choice.  There is no science supporting the contention people are ‘just born that way.’

How tragic seeing the PCUSA turn its back on God, the Scripture and the law of love to submit to the wisdom of man, a deception engineered by our ancient enemy.  People are being led away to slaughter, and church leaders applaud.

It gets worse.

Recently at its nation meeting the leaders of the PCUSA also decided that Israel is the villain in the Middle East, that Israel abuses the Palestinians, and that Israel should be condemned.  Church leaders reject the peacemakers and support the aggressors!

These same leaders also voted down a measure that took a prolife stance, a measure that condemned the killing of babies who survive abortion.  They actually voted against a policy that called for the protection of babies who survive abortion.  In so doing, they affirmed abortion and the killing of babies that survive it!

So, the PCUSA has decided to promote sexual sin, condemn God’s chosen people, and support or ignore the murder of babies, all in direct contradiction of the teachings of the Master it claims to worship.

This is modern wisdom.  This is corruption to the core.  These are the doctrines of demons.  And these are deserving of the wrath to come.

The PCUSA has become a mortuary, attended only by dead people.
