How many times have you heard a skeptic say that the Bible is an ancient book written by men and that it has no bearing or relevance to today’s culture and society?
If I had a $100 for every time I’ve heard that from someone, I would be happily retired without a financial care in the world.
Yet, when I read the words of some of the Bible’s authors, prophets, judges, historians, disciples and apostles, I can’t help but see the relevance to today’s world. It may have taken me many years to realize the importance of being in God’s Word every day, but at least I did finally come to my senses and the more I’m in the Word, the more relevance to America today I see.
In saying that, I come to Romans 1:18-32. Normally, I say that it pertains to the way America has embraced the LGBT craze, but today, I saw this section of Scripture in a whole different light.
Please read the words that the Apostle Paul wrote nearly 2,000 years ago and think about Democrats in past few years and the policies and programs that they endorse and are trying to force upon the nation. Paul wasn’t writing just about the sin of homosexuality, but he was writing about today’s Democrats in general.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” [emphasis mine]
In other words, because of America’s growing Godless culture and sins, God is judging our nation by turning us over to the Democrats. America is getting exactly what we deserve as a nation.
So, what can we do to change this horrible judgement?
Turn to 2 Chronicles 7:14, which states:
“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
It all starts with prayer. Pray for America. Pray for President Trump, Vice President Pence and all of our national leaders. Yes, that includes Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, Adam Schiff, Bernie Sanders, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and all of the other Democrats. They need our prayers more than ever.
And we need to pray for ourselves, for wisdom and guidance.
