D.C. Issues Residents Expired Parking Passes

Washington, D.C. transportation officials sent a number of residents free parking permits this week with just one problem — expired more than two months ago.

“The new pass is provided to you at no cost and is valid October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014,” reads a letter that accompanied the visitor parking passes.

One of the residents, who emailed a copy of the contents to The Daily Caller News Foundation, said neighbors confirmed they also received the free expired permits.

“Duplication or sale of this pass is strictly prohibited and violators are subject to a $300 fine,” the letter adds.

The Department of Transportation responded to concerns via Twitter Friday, saying those who got the expired passes mistakenly registered for a 2014 pass instead of a 2015 pass, and that the passes are now valid through December 31.

Every resident registered for a Visitors Parking Pass btw Aug & Dec15th will receive a 2015 VPP by Dec31st. For online issues: (202)671-2700
