“Strict adherence is required and expected, and violations cannot be tolerated.”

Those words from school district attorney Jeffrey Ganson forbidding Coach Joe Kennedy from praying after football games in Bremerton, Washington State.

Inspired by the Christian film, Facing the Giants, Coach Kennedy has been walking to mid-field after each game for years to kneel and pray. Despite the warnings, Kennedy continued to pray, kneeling, and closing his eyes.

But what he didn’t realize until he opened his eyes that he was joined by players, including the opposing team and many fans who had joined him on the field.

Kennedy said, “I was thanking God for everything He’s done…If this was the last time I was on the field, I was going to give Him all the glory for it.”
