Clinton Judge Blocks Iowa Heartbeat Law

In early 2018, the Iowa legislature passed a law that would ban abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the bill into law on May 4, 2018.

A baby’s heartbeat is usually first detected anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Opponents, namely Planned Parenthood,  of the heartbeat law claimed in a lawsuit that the law was unconstitutional because it would be too hard to enforce and would virtually eliminate abortions in the state.

This week, Chief District Judge Michael Huppert, who was appointed by Bill Clinton, ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood, striking down the law.

The Epoch Times – Judge Sides With Planned Parenthood, Says Iowa ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Law Is Unconstitutional – A federal judge said in a Jan. 22 ruling that the “heartbeat” abortion law, which would have banned nearly all abortions after babies in the womb had a detectable heartbeat, was unconstitutional.

Michael Huppert, chief district judge in Polk County and a Drake University graduate, said that the law (pdf), which was passed in 2018, could not be enforced.

Huppert cited a ruling by the Iowa Supreme Court in a legal challenge to a different law that would have restricted abortion; the high court said in that ruling that “that a woman’s right to decide whether or not to terminate a pregnancy is a fundamental right under the Iowa Constitution, and that any governmental limits on that right are to be analyzed using strict scrutiny.”

Huppert wrote that the law “is violative of both the due process and equal protective provisions of the Iowa Constitution as not being narrowly tailored to serve the compelling state interest of promoting potential life,” reported WeAreIowa, which published the full ruling…

Any intelligent and informed person can easily refute any argument used by liberals to murder their unborn babies.

With today’s medical achievements, more premature babies, including some born several months early, are surviving, so if it’s a matter of survival, then no child is safe being murdered.

If it’s a matter of age, what age does a blob of tissue become a human? They can’t really answer that one.

Generally, if they can’t see it, it’s not a human to them, but then a blind person can’t see others either, so does that make them human?

Basically, abortion is no different than child sacrifices, only these children are being sacrificed to the false gods of hedonism, debauchery, promiscuity and irresponsibility.
