“We are born biologically male or female and as such we are sexually dissimilar but in complementary ways. The male/female sexual union works, in other words. This is true of every species on earth. Every living organism has a particular way of reproducing and rearing offspring; its anatomy is biologically designed to support that way. If one believes we are products of an evolutionary process, then homosexual acts are a deviation from the procreative design and homosexuality is, therefore, a genetic defect, because it fails to propagate the species. If one holds to the belief that we are created, then it defies the design and intent of the Creator. Either way, homosexuality violates the given design.” – Michael Craven
Here is compiled data from a variety of sources including pro-homosexual and independent scientific sources that show that “LGBT” is a fictitious socio-political identity, and information leading into where we are today…. addressing the claim that change therapy “doesn’t work” and/or “is harmful.”
We are told there are “heterosexuals” and “homosexuals,” as if two different attractions create two different species of the human race. But where did these terms come from?…
In late 1860s Germany, a travel-writer and memoir writer who had associations and friendships with pederasts (adult men who are attracted to post-pubescent teen males) by the name of Karl Kertberney, in attempt to try and create the notion of immutability, invented these terms “heterosexual” and “homosexual.”…
And this 1860s Austrian/German travel-writer having NO PROFESSIONAL THEOLOGICAL OR SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND who coined the terms “heterosexual” and “homosexual” may not have just been a “heterosexual” sympathizer…
A travel-writer who had absolutely no scientific background, professional or otherwise, makes up terms out of thin air, and as a result, a false (purely fictional) dichotomy is created.
“Heterosexual” and “homosexual” are not legitimate identities folks, this is fiction for purely a socio-political agenda right out of the gate. From the false “heterosexual” and “homosexual” dichotomy, the term “sexual orientation” came about. And nothing fits the “religious worship of the flying spaghetti monster” more than that. So-called “sexual orientation” is a term spawned out of the false “heterosexual” and “homosexual” dichotomy. Junk science begets junk science. See questions 1-4 and 18 here.
“Sexual orientation” is a term invented based on a false and fictitious dichotomy. It’s a theory with no scientific foundation that lets people pretend that our sexuality is a subjective state of mind rather than a based on the self-evident biological and physiological reality, though homosexual activists will argue that it’s “fixed” when it’s politically convenient to do so. For example, homosexual activists argue that so-called “sexual orientation” naturally goes in all directions at any time to get children and teens to explore homosexual practice, but then when they are hooked on homosexual practice, they are encouraged to believe and argue that it’s fixed. In other words, and from a Judeo-Christian perspective, when pushing for sexual deviancy, sexuality is fluid, but then all of the sudden it becomes immutable and fixed when arguing against the possibility of change and/or repentance.
Regarding the fiction, that is “sexual orientation,”let’s refer to “Dr. Jeffrey Satinover a graduate of M.I.T. (Humanities and Science), Harvard (Clinical Psychology), and Yale (Physics), and received an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School. He has conducted research into complex systems at the National Center for Scientific Research at the University of Nice in France and teaches civil liberties and constitutional law part-time at Princeton. See what he states about so-called “sexual orientation” here…
(Something to ponder: Christians never claim that people who develop same-sex attraction choose to have those feelings, but what they mean when they say “it’s a choice,” is that acting on those feelings is chosen. Yet homosexual activists believe and propagate the idea that the experiences of former homosexuals are a myth or not authentic. Think about this: so according to homosexual activists, opposite-sex attractions, which is responsible for the existence of every man and woman, is designated to being fleeting and unstable. Homosexual feelings, however, which is a feeling that is inherently sterile and can’t procreate itself through its own means, is something that is fixed and stable? Then I guess that makes all people really “homosexual”…again, a feeling and behavior that naturally doesn’t and can’t procreate).
Homosexual activists have attacked the change process, saying it is injurious to self-esteem and can make person with same-sex attraction suicidal and depressed. (Source: Shidlo ASM. 2002. Changing ‘sexual orientation’: A consumer’s report. Professional Psychology: Research and Practice 33:249-59)
However, a survey by Mesmer found the opposite. Mesmer surveyed more than 100 participating in an ex-homosexual ministry who had all reported wanting to leave the homosexual lifestyle, sought out help toward a change in their “sexual orientation.” (If any of them were “always heterosexual,” then why were they a member of an ex-homosexual ministry seeking help to overcome same-sex attraction?). Mesmer found that 41% of them had achieved a satisfying shift toward opposite-sex attraction. He found that 88% felt “more able to have friendly relationships” and felt “more self-respect.” Ninety-seven percent (97%) of men felt more masculine, and 77% of women more feminine. Seventeen of the respondents had married the opposite sex, 55% reported “exclusively an opposite-sex interest,” and 47% still had some homosexual interest that they “rarely felt compelled to act out.” Thirteen percent (13%) still engaged in homosexual behavior. Ninety-four percent felt closer to GOD. (Source: Mesmer R. 1992. Homosexuals who change lifestyles. The Journal of Christian Healing 14 (1):12-7)
Another survey also found an improvement in psychological well-being and interpersonal relationships as a result of reparative therapy. (Source: Jones SL, Yarhouse MA. 2007. Ex-Gays? A Longitudinal Study of Religiously Mediated Change in “Sexual Orientation.” Downes Grove, Illinois: IVP) See here.
This makes sense considering that same-sex couples are reported to have the highest domestic violence rates…
Ex-“gay” groups argue that homosexual practice itself is a symptom of poor self-esteem, saying that a boy or girl who has not bonded with a same-sex parent, has felt different from and/or excluded by peers, and has often been sexually abused, will not have high levels of self-esteem. Sexual behavior, which is out of control, also leads to depression. Persons caught up in homosexual and lesbian practice attempt suicide roughly three times more often…a statistic that has often been blamed on societal attitudes. But, according to Bell and Weinberg, suicide attempts, when they are directly related to homosexuality, are often over the break-up of a relationship. (Source: Bell AP, Weinberg MS. 1978. Homosexualities. A Study Of Diversity Among Men And Women. New York: Simon and Schuster).

The literature also shows the rate of attempted suicides among people with same-sex attraction (SSA) in various countries is not directly related to discrimination and other attitudes in society. Studies which have tried to demonstrate the direct influence of societal oppression have so far not succeeded, rather they have identified psychological coping mechanisms (emotion-based, rather than problem-solving) as being the major factor. (Source: Almeida J, Johnson RM, Corliss HL, Molnar BE, Azrael D. 2009. Emotional distress among LGBT youth: the influence of perceived discrimination based on sexual orientation. Research shows that the risk of suicide decreases by 20% for each year that a person delays “homosexual” or “bisexual” self-labeling. Suicide attempts were not explained by experiences with discrimination, violence, loss of friendship, or current personal attitudes towards homosexual practice. (Source: Risk Factors for Attempted Suicide in ‘Gay’ and ‘Bisexual’ Youth by Remafedi, Farrow, and Deisher, in Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatrics 87: 869-875 June 1991.)

It is unreasonable, therefore, to claim, as homosexual activism does, that those who try to help motivated persons with same-sex attraction to change are “homophobic.” To be consistent, they would have to argue that Alcoholics Anonymous hates alcoholics.
Through much research, the following biochemist concludes, “There is abundant documentation that people with SSA do move toward a heterosexual orientation, often with therapeutic assistance, but mostly without it. Some achieve great change, some less, but it is clear that sexual orientation is fluid, not fixed, so that it is impossible to argue it is genetically pre-determined. There is a good possibility that various degrees of change will happen with the right support, including therapy of various kinds. The problem in the present social climate may be finding such support.” http://www.mygenes.co.nz/PDFs/Ch12.pdf
“The idea that adolescent same-sex attraction will always become adult same-sex attraction is quite incorrect. Data from the large USA ADD-Health survey (Savin-Williams and Ream, 2007) confirm that adolescent homosexuality/bisexuality both in attraction and behavior undergoes extraordinary change from year to year. Much of this could be experimentation. The changes are overwhelmingly in the direction of heterosexuality, which even at age 16-17 is at least 25 times as stable as bisexuality or homosexuality, whether for men and women. That is, 16-year-olds saying they have an SSA or Bi- orientation are 25 times more likely to change towards heterosexuality at the age of 17 than those with a heterosexual orientation are likely to change towards bi-sexuality or homosexuality. Under the most extreme conservative assumptions, the opposite-sex attraction is still 3x more stable for men and 4x for women. “‘Adolescent Sexual Orientation: Surprising amounts of change’ October 2009 http://www.mygenes.co.nz/Change.htm
STUDY: Dr. Neil Whitehead and Briar Whitehead state regarding various cultures: “If homosexuality were significantly influenced by genes, it would appear in every culture, but in twenty-nine of seventy-nine cultures surveyed by Ford and Beach in 1952, homosexuality was rare or absent.”
(By the way, the definition of “homophobia” that homosexual activists and their sympathizers use often actually started in a pornographic magazine called Screw. Two homosexual activists, Jack Nichols and Lige Clarke first used the term in a porn magazine called Screw, edited by Al Goldstein. In their article, the authors used the term “homophobia” to describe a person’s fears that others might think they were homosexual. The authors postulated that “homophobic” fears limited the experiences of males from involvement in poetry, art, movement, and same-sex touching. See here. )
Postulated in a pornographic magazine means that the term “homophobia” as commonly used today has no legitimate scientific or psychological foundation whatsoever. A “phobia” denotes irrational fear. A principled stance or viewpoint based on Biblical principles or moral precepts (medical, scientific, psychological, sociological, socio-economic, philosophical, ethical) is not and cannot be re-defined as irrational fear or even “fear” in general.
More scientific research:
From Psychoanalysis, Behavioral Therapy, Group Therapy, Sex Therapy, Hypnosis, Spontaneous Change, Ex-Gay or Religiously Mediated Therapies, Assemblies, Meta-Analysis, Surveys of Consumers, and Interventions Reports about change in “sexual orientation” from same-sex attraction to opposite-sex attraction began to appear in literature as early as the nineteenth century all the way up to present day….
Numerous reports about a change in attraction from same sex to opposite sex have been documented in the literature using a variety of therapies as detailed above. This documentation debunks the claim that there is no evidence of change. The outcomes of interventions aimed at changing “sexual orientation” are vast and varied. Without significant evidence, the American Psychological Association has made public releases in warning against the use of therapies aimed at changing “sexual orientation” (American Psychological Association, 1997). Because of public pressures by such groups, a shift in the treatment of homosexuality has evolved from amelioration to acceptance and normalization.
“A detailed overview of “sexual orientation” identity frequencies by gender and the patterns of change in reports of “sexual orientation” identity from Wave1 to Wave2. Overall, 55 (2.15%) participants reported a different “sexual orientation” identity compared to Wave1. Among women, 1.36% with a “heterosexual” identity changed, 63.63% with a “homosexual” identity changed, and 64.71% with a ‘bisexual” identity changed. Among men, 0.78% with a “heterosexual” identity changed, 9.52% with a “homosexual” identity changed, and 47.06% with a “bisexual” identity changed. In sum, the logistic regression analyses showed that those who identified as “homosexual” or “bisexual” at Wave 1 were significantly more likely to report a change in “sexual orientation” identity, in keeping with the “heterosexual” stability hypothesis. This pattern was consistent with the hypothesis that “heterosexuality” is a more stable “sexual orientation” identity, perhaps, because of its normative status.”

Even more science/research:
– For her doctoral dissertation at Brigham Young University in 1978, Elizabeth James conducted perhaps the most comprehensive review of the literature on the treatment of same-sex attraction that had been conducted to date. In her analysis of 101 studies that had been published from 1930 to 1976, she found that approximately 35% of the clients recovered and 27% improved. She concluded that “significant improvement and even complete recovery are entirely possible.” She noted an 81% recovery and improvement rate for bisexuals, 69% for long-term therapy clients, 53% for short-term therapy clients, and 42% full recovery for exclusively same-sex attracted clients. She noted that “there is certainly room for the development of new treatments and combinations of techniques that will enhance the effectiveness of those procedures already in use.” Since 1978, a great deal has been done to increase the effectiveness of treatment techniques. New theories and methodologies have been developed and many therapists are receiving specialized training. Numerous books have been written to help both therapists and individuals seeking greater insights into their feelings. Today, the outlook for successful change is even more encouraging. (GOD only knows she was right if the homosexual lobby and mainstream psychiatry didn’t embark on such an aggressive campaign to shut down conversion therapy altogether).

– Dr. Gerard van den Aardweg made an extensive analysis of 101 people he had in treatment and found that 60% of those who continued treatment reached “at least a satisfactory state of affairs for a long period of time. By this is meant that the homosexual feelings had been reduced to occasional impulses at most while the sexual orientation had turned predominantly heterosexual, or that the homosexual feelings were completely absent, with or without predominance of heterosexual interests. Of this group, however, about one-third could be regarded as having been changed ‘radically.’ By this is meant that they did not have any more homosexual interests but had normal heterosexual feelings, and in addition that they showed a fundamental change in overall emotionality from negative to positive—from instability to reasonable, normal stability. . . .”

– Dr. Reuben Fine, Director of the New York Center for Psychoanalytic Training, stated,
“I have recently had occasion to review the results of psychotherapy with homosexuality, and be surprised by the findings. It is paradoxical that even though the politically active homosexual group denies the possibility of change, all studies from Schrenck-Notzing on have found positive effects, virtually regardless of the kind of treatment used. . . .” ( He further stated, “Whether with hypnosis… ., psychoanalysis of any variety, educative psychotherapy, behavior therapy, and/or simple educational procedures, a considerable percentage of overt homosexuals became heterosexual. . . .”
If the patients were motivated, whatever procedure is adopted, a large percentage will give up their homosexuality. In this connection, public information is of the greatest importance. The misinformation spread by certain circles that ‘homosexuality is untreatable by psychotherapy’ does incalculable harm to thousands of men and women.

Thomas and Ann Pritt state that “freedom from homosexuality is truly available to men and women as they come to recognize the underlying causes of their attractions, and as they are able to realize legitimate, healthful, identity-securing affections with valued heterosexuals of their own sex.”

– Dr. William Consiglio is an associate professor of clinical social work at Southern Connecticut State University who for more than seventeen years has worked with men and women who seek freedom from same-sex attraction. He finds that 40% of his clients find personal resolution and enjoy a full “heterosexual” life, with many entering marriage and parenthood. Another 40% achieve a functional resolution in that they are able to control their “homosexual” thoughts, attractions, and behaviors, and thus maintain consistent celibacy. The remaining 20% drop out of the process and eventually return to active homosexual practice. 40% is hardly a rare occurrence.

– Dr. Charles Socarides, who taught and served as attending psychiatrist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, reports that in treating forty-five “overt homosexuals,” 44% developed full heterosexual functioning. (Reported in NARTH Bulletin, National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, Encino, CA, Dec. 1994, p. 14.) These success rates are as good as, or better than, those for treating other conditions. Let us compare the success rate of overcoming same-sex attraction with that of overcoming problems from depression, one of the most commonly treated behavioral issues. Of those treated for depression, about one third get better, one third stay the same, and a third continually get worse in spite of treatment. This division of thirds holds true for the treatment of many conditions. If same-sex attraction is indeed a treatable, changeable condition, we would expect the same success rates. In fact, we find much better.
– Dr. Irving Bieber, former president of the New York Medical College, lead a nine-year study of male same-sex attraction. His research team concluded that “many homosexuals became exclusively heterosexual in psychoanalytic treatment.
Although this change may be more easily accomplished by some than others, in our judgment, a heterosexual shift is a possibility for all homosexuals who are strongly motivated to change.” (Bieber, Homosexuality: A Psychoanalytic Study, pp. 318–19) After following some of his patients for as long as ten years, he claimed success rates from 30–50%. (Bieber, “Male Homosexuality,” p. 416)
– There is often a tendency to assume that, if a behavior pattern is related to a biologically based temperament, the pattern is unchangeable. The fallacy of this assumption is well documented in many areas of psychology changes in a child’s psychosocial context can clearly alter how his or her temperament is manifested. – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention 2007 report, Adolescent Health in the United States, surveyed 10,000 teenagers and found that the vast majority of sixteen-year-olds who reported only same-sex sexual attractions reported only opposite-sex sexual attractions one year later. Because these surveys produced such unexpected results, similar studies were soon replicated all over the Western world. The outcomes were almost identical, with population-based samples now reaching into the hundreds of thousands.
– This article published in AARP (a nonpartisan healthcare organization that has over 35 million members) says “sexual orientation” can change.
“Among the 14% of Dutch adult males who reported ever having physical attraction to other males, about half noted that these feelings disappeared later in life”
“Only 38% of exclusive same-sex attracted females stayed in this group with the rest moving into ‘occasional’ same-sex attraction (38%) or exclusive opposite-sex attraction (25%). One half of female and one third of male 21-year olds with occasional same-sex attraction only had opposite-sex attraction as 26-year olds.”
“Although most (97%) heterosexuals maintained their heterosexual identity, nonheterosexuals frequently changed their identity label over the life course: 39% of gay males, 65% of lesbians, 66% of male bisexuals, and 77% of female bisexuals.”
“The instability of same-sex romantic attraction and behavior (plus sexual identity in previous investigations) presents a dilemma for sex researchers who portray nonheterosexuality as a stable trait of individuals”
“in a 5-year study… of young adults (Dickson et al., 2003)… only 65% of the men with same-sex attraction and 40% of the women with same-sex attraction did so [maintained a consistent rating of attraction over 5 years]”
“in a longitudinal study of women who identified as lesbian, bisexual, or unlabeled at the first time point, 67% had changed their identity at least once over a period of 10 years (Diamond, 2008).”
“Research shows that women’s sexuality tends to be more responsive to normative influences [peer pressure] than men’s sexuality (Baumeister, 2000)”
– Former APA President Nicholas Cummings, who is *for* homosexual “marriage,” states, “I believe that our rate of success with reorientation was relatively high, because we were selective in recommending therapeutic change efforts only to those who identified themselves as highly motivated and were clinically assessed as having a high probability of success.” Cummings also said that since he was APA president in 1979-80, the organization has been “totally hijacked” by the homosexual/lesbian political lobby. ”It’s incredible.” But it’s not just the APA!
“The APA has more than 100,000 members, associates, and affiliates, yet less than 200 elitists control its governance. They rotate year after year through its offices, boards, Council of Representatives, and its plethora of committees, in a kind of organizational musical chairs that assures the perpetuation of a political ideology and essentially disenfranchises the thousands of psychologists who might disagree. This same organizational structure handpicks the editors of its many journals, who, then, cherry pick reviewers who will not pass for publication any scientific or professional paper that is not in synch with sanitized thought. Hundreds if not thousands of psychologists have chosen not to belong to the APA, have recently dropped out, or have defected to the APS and perhaps to the new NAPPP, while others feel their needs are not being met but hang in there to maintain their malpractice insurance and other benefits offered only to its members. Our national organization is balkanized into 60 divisions and even more by its affiliated state associations that represent special interests that vie for seats on the Council of Representatives. There is even more fractionation. Some of the divisions have sections, sometimes as many as six, thus honing the special interests into especially special interests, and adding even more to the already high dues burden. The Council chooses the members of the various boards, including the Board of Directors. The only office the membership at large votes for directly is the president, and since many members do not belong to a division, they have little voice in the manner in which most of the APA policies are promulgated and how the public declarations which repeatedly violate the Leona Tyler principle are foisted on us. A long time APA watcher who has attended the Council meetings for the past two decades sums its member activities thusly: 20% of Council’s time is spent on diversity, 60% on assuring the perpetuation of the incumbents participation in the various aspects of governance, and only 20% on issues of vital interest to the general membership. And why should it be different? Not being elected by the members at large, those in governance are only tangentially, or even unlikely to be responsive to their interests.” – Nicholas A. Cummings, Ph.D., Sc.D.
Cummings goes on to say, “But contending that all same-sex attraction is immutable is a distortion of reality. Attempting to characterize all “sexual reorientation” therapy as “unethical” violates patient choice and gives an outside party a veto over patients’ goals for their own treatment. A political agenda shouldn’t prevent people with same-sex attraction who desire to change from making their own decisions.”
Again, see how the APA and other mainstream scientific organizations have become politicized on this issue with the existence of homosexual activist caucus as the board of directors…
There is so much evidence of change that even the pro-homosexual activist APA had to admit that reparative therapy is not harmful…
“On the basis of the Task Force’s findings, the APA encourages mental health professionals to provide assistance to those who seek “sexual orientation” change by utilizing affirmative multi-culturally competent (Bartoli & Gillem, 2008; Brown, 2006) and client-centered approaches (e.g., Beckstead & Israel, 2007; Glassgold, 2008; Haldeman, 2004; Lasser & Gottlieb, 2004) …”
In 1998, the American Psychological Association (APA) published a brochure titled “Answers to Your Questions about ‘Sexual Orientation’ and ‘Homosexuality.'” Specifically, the APA stated: “There is considerable recent evidence to suggest that biology, including genetic or inborn hormonal factors, play a significant role in a person’s sexuality.”
However, in the update: a brochure now called, “Answers to Your Questions for a Better Understanding of ‘Sexual Orientation’ & Homosexuality,” the APA’s position changed. The new statement says:
There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientist to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles.”
One might argue that just because the APA may have conceded that there is no “gay” gene, that still doesn’t prove that they believe reparative therapy isn’t harmful. Well, there is so much evidence of change that even the pro-homosexual activist APA had to also admit within its site that reparative therapy is not harmful…
“On the basis of the Task Force’s findings, the APA encourages mental health professionals to provide assistance to those who seek “sexual orientation” change by utilizing affirmative multiculturally competent (Bartoli & Gillem, 2008; Brown, 2006) and client-centered approaches (e.g., Beckstead & Israel, 2007; Glassgold, 2008; Haldeman, 2004; Lasser & Gottlieb, 2004) …”
Other organizations that have a homosexual activist underpinning such as the Royal College of Psychiatrist had to also change their tune on homosexual attractions being genetic.
For those who believe that Spitzer wanting to publicly distance himself from the conclusions of his 2001 study automatically renders the conclusion of his study as invalid, think again. See here and here and here.
If you read the actual statements by psychiatric organizations that have homosexual activist caucuses within them (i.e. APA, RCoP), you will notice that even as they have to admit that “homosexuality” is not so immutable after all, they continue to obfuscate that by encouraging psychiatrists to be more focused on helping pro-homosexual activist political legislation than dealing with pathologies. When scientific organizations are more concerned about political agendas, but still have to admit sexuality is not solely genetic, that should tell us something, don’t you think?
But it also seems like homosexual activists want to turn everybody and everything “homosexual.”
When it’s inconvenient for them, they’ll cry out “not really gay!” For example, when a woman by the name of Linda Jernigan related that she was a NEW EX-lesbian, her old friends caught up in homosexuality told her that it was just a phase she was going through and that she would soon revert back to lesbianism. Then, after a few more years, when they saw that that wasn’t happening, the “gay” activists “friends” switched their spin to: “Well, Linda, you never really were a lesbian in the first place!” Now, that’s one way to win an argument! Just keep the spin going. The homosexualists simply can’t deal with the reality that people can change and do leave their homosexuality behind in both practice AND desire.
Addressing Alan Chambers
Alan Chambers became a leading voice of Exodus. Over time, he became a follower of a very unbalanced gospel teaching put forth by Clark Whitten, who seduces people to believe their sinning doesn’t really matter at all. He (Alan Chambers) now can’t seem to reconcile the love of GOD with the holiness of GOD, and our calling to be conformed to the image of Christ. The transformation then becomes the enemy, rather than the response or the fruit of a life who is wholly surrendered to Christ. It is a full out rejection of what 1 Corinthians 6:11 teaches us. But I digress. Let’s shift our focus back to the scientific and testimonial evidence of change regarding Alan Chambers most “go-to” statement by homosexual activist and their fellow “water carriers.”…
Alan Chambers said, “the majority of people that I have met, and I would say the majority meaning 99.9% of them have not experienced a change in their orientation, or have gotten to a place where they could say that they could never be tempted or are not tempted in some way, or experience some level of same-sex attraction.” -Alan Chambers”
First, let’s say people can’t change their same-sex attraction back to opposite-sex attraction, does that mean they should act on it? Should a person who struggles to overcome alcoholism, keep drinking? Second, Alan’s comments have really shocked a whole lot of former homosexuals who have said, ‘It looks like he never met me!'”(Further on in this article you will see several links from different sources of hundreds and hundreds of people who have experienced every level of change from same-sex attraction to opposite-sex attraction). Also, since when did “change” mean perfect change without the possibility of temptation? Very few of us have that in any area of life. If a person overcomes his/her temptation of one night stands but still gets tempted from time-to-time, does that mean he or she has a “one-night stand” gene? And the fact is, when they start recognizing the stressful moments and/or periods of boredom that are triggering these temptations, through therapeutic counseling, they can find ways to gain more control, and the temptations continued to diminish. That’s what we call “triggers,” of which one can either chose to act on or not. Homosexual activists want to redefine “triggers” as if it’s an identity. Ridiculous! Last but not least, if a person wants to lose weight by overcoming their bad (unhealthy) food cravings and they had 2 choices; either Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers and a former spokesperson for Jenny Craig stated, “99.9% of our clients don’t overcome their bad food cravings,” does that make any and all attempts at weight loss harmful and/or discredited?
That reminds me, this brave former homosexual posted this publicly on facebook and I think it illustrates a relevant point here…
Exodus was only one group, and they were not helping themselves or others with unwanted same-sex attraction by conceding to the lies of homosexual activism, especially when there are other organizations like Restored Hope Network, JONAH, NARTH, and other independent therapists who claim otherwise. And many of the members in Exodus whole-heartedly disagree with Alan Chambers and have broken off from Exodus to for Restored Hope Network (RHN). See Restored Hope Network here.
Also, keep in mind that Alan Chambers has never sought out any help from any psychiatrist. So when he attacked or attacks the counseling of organizations like NARTH or JONAH, he is speaking of something he knows little to nothing about.
Many people with unwanted same-sex attraction see the best results when they combine both their religious faith practices with a balanced theology on Grace and Holiness (See RNH doctrine here) as well as utilized secular therapies offered by organizations like JONAH or NARTH. Again, secular approach therapy, something that Alan Chambers doesn’t understand or knows nothing about, but you can bet homosexual activists are thrilled he’s allowed to misrepresent them, especially in the media. See here.
Lesbian feminist Camilia Paglia is at least an individual who doesn’t make her private bedroom habits an in-everybody’s-faces public matter, which is the very nature and definition of homosexual ACTIVISM. Paglia states, “‘sexual orientation’ is fluid and can change.”
Since pro-homosexual activists and liberals alike have such a devotion to the nation’s largest baby murder facility, Planned Parenthood, I wonder if they like what PP has to say about attraction changing?…
“‘Sexual orientation‘ describes which gender(s) you’re attracted to, sexually and/or romantically. Sometimes a person’s ‘sexual orientation‘ changes over time, but people can’t choose or decided to change who they’re attracted to. It can take many years for people to understand their ‘sexual orientation,’ and it can change over your lifetime — so a lot of people call themselves questioning, which means they aren’t sure about their ‘sexual orientation’ and/or gender identity. This is common, especially for teens.” See here.
According to homosexual activists, a person who spends most of their life as a “heterosexual,” then at age 60 goes “homosexual” exclusively for whatever reason, then that person is a “homosexual” or a “bisexual.” Let us take another person who lives most of their life as a “homosexual,” but then decides to live as a “heterosexual” exclusively at age 60. According to homosexual activists, that person is just like the other one, either still “homosexual” or “bisexual,” but never “heterosexual.” So in the distorted mind of the homosexual activist, homosexuality (an “orientation” that results in a sexual behavior that cannot naturally procreate itself and cannot carry itself over from one generation to the next) is fixed and stable, while opposite-sex attraction is unstable and fleeting. Yeah sure, makes perfect sense. (sarcasm)
The homosexual activist rhetoric about people who overcome homosexuality in desire and/or practice as not really being authentic shows a huge double standard. Most people who don’t agree with promoting and pushing homosexual practice as something good and positive, like myself, do not deny that there are people who have embraced homosexuality as an identity. We may not agree with it, but we don’t deny that people have embraced such socio-political fiction as part of their core being. Homosexual activists and their sympathizers have, however, shown intolerance and hatred to a whole group of people denying their experiences as authentic, based on a feeling and behavior, that couldn’t be an identity, because it is inherently a sterile practice.
There is big money in homosexual activism. In the grand scheme of things, more than the average Mega-Church preacher. The heads over at activist lobby groups like GLAAD, HRC, GLSEN, etc roll in 6 figure salaries while putting forth a message that portrays them as the most persecuted and victimized in society. Much of this money gets thrown at any who wants to take part in homosexual activism or tow their line. All that money for publicly advocating their private bedroom habits and doing so in a dogmatically religious way. So as long as they all have a chance to get paid good money to simply advocate their private bedroom habits publicly, they will continue to engage in this contradictory and divisive rhetoric.
Homosexual activists have devoted every waking moment in passionate desperation to convince people that people can’t leave their homosexual desires behind them. There are many who have left it in both desire and practice. They do exist. But the psyche of the out and proud “homosexual” activist is so frail that the continue to feel threatened by those who overcame and left it behind and dare to tell anybody about it. Homosexual activists can’t just live and let live… tolerance continues to be a one-way street for them.
Here are hundreds of testimonies and growing. According to the average homosexual activist, these people are not worthy of your acknowledgment. They are less than human, like the slaves were to the slave owner, and like Jews were to Hitler and the Nazis (yes I went there. If the shoe on Godwin’s law fits) because their experiences are not authentic (according to homosexual activists). Now I really can’t think of too many things more hateful and discriminatory than that, can you?
And here is even 29 more testimonies of people who have overcome homosexuality. It has sound theological and psychological understanding, and help by some of the best! I want to encourage you and everyone who reads this to check this out too! See here and here
Oh, and what about those persons who have left homosexual practice and/or desires behind, only to have returned to it? Based on using the logic that ex-ex-“gays” happen therefore ex-gay doesn’t exist, then every member of Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig where it didn’t work for them should denounce efforts to eat better and become more active as “harmful.” Regarding ex-ex-“gays,” they are the exception, not the norm. I believe you’ll find the points made concerning ex-ex-“gays” in this article very reasonable…
Nobody is born with a non-procreative inclination by a procreative design. Something has to be passed through DNA to be innate. In other words, homosexual attraction has to be rooted in its own physiology and biology. Persons of the same sex cannot naturally procreate with one another, therefore it has no basis in any physiology. Equating homosexual attractions as equal to opposite-sex attractions is faulty…that is, comparing a dead-end, something that is inherently sterile/barren, to something that is naturally procreative.
“We are not creatures of sexual necessity. We are not compelled to act on our inclinations and urges but are always free to act otherwise, even directly against the grain of those inclinations. To be truly free as a human means to have the strength to act against our inclinations so that we do not live in bondage to our own inner impulses and drives, a key consideration that distinguishes us from the animals. Human freedom involves the mastery of those drives by redirecting them and ordering them to higher goals.” ~ Pacholczyk
By the way, “pray away the gay” is a marketing line homosexual activists came up with to ridicule the idea of overcoming same-sex attraction and mock the word of GOD (mainly 1 Corinthians 6:11). Very few Christians ever said that you can just “pray away the gay.” You can lean on the Lord through prayer to help you through your struggles keeping in mind that He knows when and how much.
Homosexual activists have framed the argument as if organizations who provide therapy for unwanted same-sex attractions go door to door and then badger people like crazy to set an appointment. The fact is, people by in large come to therapy, which proves there’s a need for their service. Ethical policies require ttherapists to not solicit clients or coerce clients into seeking change. The clients served by these therapists are clients requesting change. This includes teens and children brought to therapy by their parents. Ethical therapists do not help clients who are not requesting change – regardless of their age- they help voluntary clients pursue their own goals for therapy. An ethical therapist would never try to force or coerce someone to change. But homosexual activists, on the other hand, seem to think they know what’s best for all people. And they call people of faith “self-righteous?!”
In summary, there is really no such thing as a “straight” person, a “gay” person, a “lesbian” person, a “homosexual” person, a “bisexual” person, a “transgendered” person, or even a “heterosexual” person. There are ONLY PERSONS, men and women…feelings and behaviors are separate issues and should be dealt with as such.
Christians believe in “love the sinner, hate the sin,” This may be cliche line to you, but it has a lot of meaning, not to simply be discarded. Homosexual activists, by claiming emotive-sexual attractions are a fixed part of their core being wanted us to believe that people with same-sex attraction are their sin, they are their problem and issues, they are their vice…that they are one in the same. They say, “give into it… it’s who you are.” And if you even think about leaving, they will “whip” and “chain” you with humiliation and ridicule. If you show any sign of weakness, they will “browbeat” you back into their plantation (i.e Wayne Besen, founder of TWO who has been Totally Whigging Out, stalking and pressuring John Paulk until Paulk finally gave in). The homosexual activist’s efforts and attempts to discredit the idea that healthy change away from homosexual practice and desire involves the tactic of trumpeting failed “ex-gays,” but they also count on the general public not to think about how they always ignore the success stories. #FocusontheFailures
Speaking of a form of coercion, attempts to ban the right to self-determination when it comes to therapy is akin to the Dred Scott case in 1857… and the homosexual activists are the modern-day slave owners. It’s “DAMN YOU, YOU BE DAMNED!” for even thinking about leaving their plantation! And they’re going to pass laws to prevent anybody from doing so, again, just like Dred Scott.
