During the Cold War, we used to say people “voted with their feet,” by fleeing communist countries for freedom in the West. As the Party of Plunder takes control of the House, we note the same phenomenon in these United States.
According to United Van Lines 42nd. annual National Movers Study, Americans are leaving states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois and Massachusetts for relative havens of liberty and prosperity in the South, Midwest and Far West.
In New York (ruled over by that Mouthy Marxist, Andrew Cuomo), the total state and local tax burden is 13.04%, compared to Idaho, where it’s 7.87%.
A friend of mine sold his home in Marblehead, MA. for half-a-million, and bought something comparable in Bowling Green, Ky. for under $200,000. His annual property taxes went from $5,000 to $1,000. The Land of Pocahontas, where I’m incarcerated, has become particularly adept at driving out the middle class, retirees in particular, while welcoming parasites – of both the legal and illegal variety.
Citizens are escaping high-tax, high -regulation gulags ruled by the Party of Pelosi — states where it’s hard to get a gun but easy to run afoul of the bureaucracy, where pocket-picking has become an art.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This coincides with a recent post that revealed a large population move from a couple blue states to red states.
That post showed that thousands of people are leaving the Democrat controlled states of Illinois and New York. At the same time, thousands of people are migrating to the Republican controlled states of Florida and Texas.
I also know of people who have left Democrat controlled California because of the way Democrats are ruining the state. Some have relocated to neighboring Arizona and others to Texas.
Similarly, I wrote about Full Measure’s Sharyl Attkisson described how California, under Democratic leadership, has gone from being the Golden State to the Tarnished State.
If Democrats ever get control of the entire federal government and do to the entire country what they are doing to states like California, Illinois and New York, where will concerned Americans then migrate to?
