Alabama bans Shariah Law. Alabama voters have added an amendment to their Constitution that bans court consideration of foreign laws–including Islamic Sharia Law.

The statewide Amendment reads: “Amendment 1 would create constitutional protection that foreign law is not applied if it violates the guaranteed rights of Alabama citizens.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called the amendment “racist” and motivated by “outright hostility towards Muslims.”

The amendment passed overwhelming by 72 percent by 28 percent. Similar laws are pending in other states with the title “American Laws for American Courts. Let’s hope they pass in every state.
