Alabama Supreme Court Rejects Same-Sex Marriage

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has ordered that the Alabama probate judges not issue any marriage licenses contrary to the Alabama Sanctity of Marriage Amendment which defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman.

Some probate judges in Alabama have been confused between the Alabama Supreme Court order and the Supreme Court of the United States opinion regarding marriage.

Now this opinion by the Chief Justice clarifies the matter. They have no authority to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

We applaud the Chief Justice Roy Moore for reaffirming marriage in Alabama.
