Associated Press tries desperately to spin Pope’s statements on gay adoption in Malta and Argentina, caught red-handed lying about the Vatican’s stance on same-sex parenting. The Pope opposed Malta’s law to open up gay adoption and the Pope talked about the suffering of a little girl being raised by lesbians in Argentina; he was not endorsing gay adoption but the Associate Press dug and dug to find a sliver of hope that Francis would be the game-changing gay-affirming Pope that Time and Advocate thought he would be.

The SPLC said it sent a letter “calling on members of Congress and other public officials not to speak at the upcoming Values Voter Summit.”
The letter, signed by Michael Sherrard of Faithful America, Dave Montez of GLAAD, Chad Griffing of Human Rights Campaign, Hilary O. Shelton of National Council of La Raza, Michael Keegan of People for the American Way and J. Richard Cohen of SPLC, said, “We urge you to not lend the prestige of your office to the summit.”
The letter accuses the conference sponsors of denigrating homosexuals by their affirmation of biblical values. It charges that FRC President Tony Perkins has described pedophilia as “a homosexual problem” and the AFA’s Bryan Fischer blames homosexuality for the Nazi Party.
This short documentary covers FIRE’s case at Missouri State University, where social work student Emily Brooker was threatened with expulsion after she refused (as a matter of personal belief) to send a signed letter to the Missouri state legislature in favor of homosexual foster parenting and adoption. In a Mexican case, Fr. Hugo Valdemar was found guilty on July 1st of illegal political activity because he stated that Catholics should not vote for candidates who support same-sex marriage. Fr. Valdemar’s defense is that he wasn’t speaking against a particular party but was merely stating the teaching of the Catholic Church. But the particulars of charge and counter-charge do not make a great deal of difference, apart from the strategies they suggest for legal maneuvering. Activist Groups, Unable to Silence NARTH’s Message, Resort to Attacking NARTH Members. Protesters of the 2009 NARTH convention announced a new strategy: attacking the messengers rather than the message. In a video posted on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lDL4QAu0qc), a journalism student leading the November protest shouted into a megaphone that they had been unsuccessful in stopping the work of NARTH through counter conventions, so they would instead begin to target the individual members of NARTH.
Following these threats, there have indeed been attempts to discredit both NARTH members as well as non-members who do similar work. In one recent report from England, a journalist posed as a client seeking help for unwanted homosexual attractions. He set up two unsuspecting therapists, claiming to want help from them, secretly recorded their conversations, and then contacted their professional organizations to seek action against them. That same journalist is reportedly assisting others to disrupt and discredit an event in Ireland this week. In another report, activist groups investigated the background of a NARTH board member in order to publicize his past wrongdoing in an attempt to discredit the organization.

Dear Wikipedia reviewer:
It was brought to our attention recently that your article about the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) has numerous factual errors in it regarding us. In an attempt to correct this misinformation, our editorial director Mike Hatfield attempted to make corrections to the article. He attempted this two times. Each time he made the corrections, they were immediately changed back by someone else. In investigating who was making the changes, he found the name of Joie de Vivre, who is a lesbian socio-political activist and a member of the WikiProject LGBT studies. The WikiProject site describes itself as “a group of editors who aim to improve the general quality and range of Wikipedia articles on LGBT and Queer studies topics.” Vivre says –with obvious pride!– on her Wikipedia web site that she regularly changes the wording and rewrites articles dealing with gay and lesbian issues. It is dangerous for your credibility to have political activists slanting articles to fit their own political objectives. NARTH must have the right to post corrections to an article about itself without having a lesbian activist vandalize the site by reposting inaccurate or distorted statements about the history and goals of NARTH. We insist that Vivre be prohibited from making future changes on the NARTH site – and that whatever corrections NARTH chooses to post on the site will remain there without being deleted by other anti-NARTH activists.

A Call to Action to Prevent the Demise of Client, Therapist, and Parental Rights.
David H. Pickup,
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
As Chairman of the new NARTH Client Rights Committee, I was a guest on the Anderson Cooper 360 show up until 3 hours before the show was to begin when I got an email from the producer stating there was “a time issue,” and they would have to cancel the of reporting and scientific bias I have ever witnessed. Earlier, during the final confirmation call today, I informed them I was the NARTH representative and Chairman of their Client Rights Committee. About an hour later, I was pulled from the show. (In my opinion, once they found out I was a NARTH representative, they pulled the plug on NARTH participation.) The very courteous assistant producer told me she actually didn’t know why I was pulled. Also, Cooper’s producers had kept me busy for two days rearranging my therapy client schedule for this show. They confirmed my appearance several hours before the show, which included being driven in a CNN car to the Hollywood studios to appear with Dr. Jack Drescher from the APA.[…]
Finally, AC360 reported on California’s SB1172 and the proposed ban on all forms of SOCE for minors. Cooper and his guests discussed the desire to have all SOCE held to legal limits or bans.

This is a major blow to parental rights, human autonomy, free speech, and patient/client confidentiality. The fact that Gov. Ten people punished for believing in traditional marriage
In Hong Kong, a mainstream media reported that a Christian international school asked its teachers to sign a code of ethics claiming they would follow the teachings of the Bible. The declaration regards homosexual behavior (and any sexual activity outside man-woman marriage) as inappropriate, and states that the school might take disciplinary actions if any teacher gets caught. Then the (pro-gay) Equal Opportunities Commission, certain legislators and the Ligbitists lost no time in condemning the school. One outspoken lesbian star said the school must teach children to be open to all kinds of “lifestyles,” and a gay star even said the school committed “violence”. The Education Department soon joined and reassured that the school MUST comply with the Code of Practice against Discrimination in Employment on the Ground of Sexual Orientation. A human rights lawyer rose to hint that the school had infringed international human rights standards and the government should consider de-registering the school. All these happened when basically no teacher nor any parent ever complained a word. One father who sent his three children to the school even publicly wrote a letter in defense of the school’s Biblical stand and … the true meaning of “diversity”.

This is more coverage on the Mass. homo-fascism case of shouting down an innocent 14 year old girl just for politely testifying her traditional marriage views in court. The new wrinkle is that not only did they send all the death threats and such that we know about but now they have tried to sic child services on the parents calling a Christian family upbringing “child abuse” and trying to destroy this family to suit their warped ideology. They probably want to make certain she ends up in and LGBT home so they can do as they please behind closed doors. The parents are fighting back and leading a new coalition in response to this destructive movement. “… the patient could see that I wore a cross, and he began asking questions about God. Over the next couple of years he began moving to a place of not believing that he was born gay; he started working through his history, even became involved with a woman, and was in love with her. She became pregnant but terminated the pregnancy, and he was devastated. In his devastation, he had a relapse of his drug addiction and everything fell apart, and he blamed God—and me. So, ultimately, he sued me for what had become an unethical thing with the psychiatric association, because in essence, homosexuality is no longer considered pathological, and therefore my Christianity was cited as being an improper “imbalance of power”. By having a cross around my neck, an icon on my wall, and a Bible on my desk, I was accused of unduly influencing this man, who—voluntarily—came to me. That he came voluntarily and stayed for three years was irrelevant to them. It was the mere fact that God was present, and that I had “forced” him to listen to this.”

Rob Portman scores no points by abandoning traditional marriage for the sake of his gay son… Oh, this is just priceless! their spiteful anger is so inherent and irrational that even when somebody manages to politically convert in their favor they just can’t help shouting him down anyway. As if getting their claws into him was not enough they just have to keep on raking them across his back the whole way down. This case is a noteworthy display of homo-fascism because it highlights the incessant constant brimming of emotional violence in the LGBT activist’s heart.

A good-hearted minister opens the dorm of his church to a young man down on his luck and what does he do? Turns the dorm into a LGBT brothel right under his nose and when the minister gets wise when someone gets caught and tires to do the right thing by kicking out the debuacherers what do they do? Typical homo fascism they can’t live and let live they just have to go to the secular powers that and do everything they can to ruin him. now this honest minister is living on the street for Christ while they move back in, change the locks, and keep on partying and destroying themselves. Live and let live my tail feathers this is war.

Something you won’t see in the mainstream media, another historical 1 million march for traditional marriage has broken out in Paris. Broham said he wasn’t always an activist for the Christian faith, but he became motivated when members of the “gay” community decided to attack an elderly woman for her faith. “In 2008, my wife and I were watching Fox News and they had a segment where Phyllis Burgess, a 69-year-old woman who was savagely attacked by homosexual activists for simply exercising her constitutional rights by supporting traditional marriage,” he explained. “She was carrying a Styrofoam cross, and the gays grabbed it from her and stepped on it and began to attack her like demons. The Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual advocacy group, will not say who provided it with a confidential list of donors to the National Organization for Marriage, although NOM’s chairman believes someone at the Internal Revenue Service leaked the information. The IRS also is silent on the question. Providing such donor information is a felony, John C. Eastman, chairman of the board for the National Organization for Marriage, told CNSNews.com. The Justice Department deferred the matter to the Treasury Department, but Eastman said the probe by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration seems to have stalled. Nevertheless, Eastman told CNSNews.com, “We’re going to keep pressing until we get criminal indictments brought against the people responsible.”
There is now a first victim to deplore. His name is Nicolas, a 23 year old student from Angers, who was arrested while peacefully protesting against the absurd re-definition of marriage and family by his country’s government. He has now been sentenced to one month of imprisonment for “rebellion”. This judgment apparently is intended as a clear message to all citizens that still dare to oppose the new gay-fascism: we are not going to listen to you, nor engage in any rational argument about the meaning of marriage and the family, but we will simply put you in jail. Dissident opinions will be silenced at all costs.
June 19, “Nicolas”, 22, the first protester of the anti-gay-marriage law was sentenced to two months in prison for an imaginary rebellion.
No initial offence could be proved, the arrest was without legal basis and imprisonment appears to be that young “Nicolas” is the first political prisoner of M. Hollande’s French government.
High court in France confirms that Hollande’s government illegally threw out 700,000 petitions from French citizens demanding a review of the cultural and social impacts of gay adoption, as due diligence before the vote for gay marriage, which was conducted under improper conditions and went against 59% of the French people’s wishes.
Gay Colorado couple sues bakery for allegedly refusing them wedding cake.
“The study lends credence to conservative charges that the nation’s news media have championed the issue of same-sex marriage at the expense of objectivity,” media reporter Brian Stelter asserted at The New York Times. “Others have argued that news organizations are right not to overly emphasize opposition to what many see as a core civil rights issue.”
That’s very euphemistic. Some argue reporters are “not to overly emphasize” opposition? No, many liberals believe whoever still refuses to endorse “gay marriage” has as much moral authority as the Ku Klux Klan.
Ms. Gillian John-Charles is the doctoral student; she’s 35, a single mother with two graduate degrees who teaches math in a Chicago public school. Her mistake was disagreeing with the politically left wing Roosevelt University’s party line when it comes to the nature of homosexuality.
Incidents like this one are increasingly familiar to Americans who get their news and information from sources other than places like the Chicago Tribune, the Associated Press, Google News or CNN and CBS. Facts don’t matter; if a news story might have a negative impact on the public’s perception of those pushing the LGBTQI agenda it is not allowed to see the light of day.
“Meanwhile, disturbing video footage has emerged on the internet. It shows how policemen mingled among the peaceful crowd that protested peacefully in favour of marriage and family on 26 May. These ‘agents provocateurs’ had the task of artificially provoking the violent ‘incidents’ that Manuel Valls, the French Minister of the Interior, had ‘warned’ against prior to the demonstration. The use of ‘agents provocateurs’ is a feature that is typically used by totalitarian regimes. It shows how far the gay lobby in Europe is prepared to go to push through its agenda.”
And a recent report documents all this. As Hilary White states, “A report will be presented today at a hearing at the Council of Europe detailing systematic use of excessive and violent police actions by France’s socialist government to suppress opposition to the same-sex ‘marriage’ law. The report on the French ‘Manif pour Tous and its police repression’ will be presented in conjunction with today’s session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and will be presented to the United Nations in Geneva.
Case in point, two EXGLBT advocacy organizations declared July as “Exgay Pride Month” and consequently planned a celebration event to highlight the contributions and ongoing struggles of American citizens who are EXhomosexual. They made no demands on the gay community and asked nothing of them. In fact this was just a group of people who felt the need to encourage themselves and their families. Fair enough? Nope, not for homosexual activists. The announcement set off a frenzy of attacks. From the Boston Edge to jittery RightWingWatch, the online gay allied world exploded with numerous reports, blogs and oped peices about the event. Even NBC News mentioned it! The stories were jammed with missiles named mockery, condemnation, bullying, discrimination, judging, unwarranted name calling, bigotry, intolerance and all the detestable vices homosexuals claim have no place in a fair and equal America. But it became very clear that in the eyes of homosexuals, they are the only ones who can simultaneously engage in such vicious behavior while at the same time pretending to decry it.

“Novelist and prolix Twitterer Bret Easton Ellis is raising hackles once again by labeling such organizations as GLAAD as “the gatekeepers of politically correct gayness” in a long editorial in Out magazine. “The ordinance also says that if you have at any point demonstrated a bias – without defining what a bias is or who will determine whether or not one has been exercised – that you cannot get a city contract,” he tells OneNewsNow. “Neither can any of your subcontractors [who have demonstrated a bias] sign on to the contract.”

In it, she said she “never bought in” to the idea that people are born gay, and seemed to call homosexuality “disgusting.” The recording, made by a staff member who later quit, was given to the San Antonio Express-News.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court of New Mexico ruled that the First Amendment does not protect a Christian photographer’s ability to decline to take pictures of a same-sex commitment ceremony—even when doing so would violate the photographer’s deeply held religious beliefs. As Elaine Huguenin, owner of Elane Photography, explained: “The message a same-sex commitment ceremony communicates is not one I believe.”

The push for radical transgender rights in schools is trumping privacy rights at one Colorado high school. Ari Karpel in the Advocate says the overwhelming number of gay characters on TV still isn’t enough. We need more!
In 2006, a noted advocate for traditional marriage, Maggie Gallagher, warned that the legalization of same-sex marriage would lead to constraints on religious freedom. Writing in the Weekly Standard, Gallagher saw the end of adoptions services by Boston Catholic Charities as a foreshadowing of things to come. (To retain its license, Gallagher explained, the agency would have to abide by the state’s anti-discrimination law, which had been extended to married same-sex couples.) She couched her warning in the form of a question:
This March, then, unexpectedly, a mere two years after the introduction of gay marriage in America, a number of latent concerns about the impact of this innovation on religious freedom ceased to be theoretical. How could Adam and Steve’s marriage possibly hurt anyone else? When religious-right leaders prophesy negative consequences from gay marriage, they are often seen as overwrought. The First Amendment, we are told, will protect religious groups from persecution for their views about marriage. So who is right? Is the fate of Catholic Charities of Boston an aberration or a sign of things to come?
Seven years later, we have the answer: as of this writing, there have been at least 11 instances of wedding vendors and venues facing some form of recrimination—threats, boycotts, protests, and the intervention of state or judicial authorities—because they denied services for gay nuptials because of their faith.
A Washington state judge has been officially reprimanded by the Judicial Conduct Commission after refusing to officiate same-sex weddings for what he said were “philosophical and religious reasons.” Thurston County Superior Court Judge Gary Tabor first came under scrutiny by the Commission after Washington voters approved a measure late last year authorizing same-sex “marriage” in the state. Immediately prior to the law’s taking effect, in a private meeting between judges and court personnel, Tabor had expressed discomfort with the idea of officiating gay nuptials. One of the attendees later leaked his comments to the press, which reported them widely.
In her book, Prophecy, Pansexuality and Pandemonium, Thio identifies three key strategies of the Christophobic activists to target Christians:
1) Discredit those whose public values are shaped by their religious convictions, including Christians, by accusing them of instigating a ‘creeping theocracy’. Never mind the historical fact, she points out, that Christianity invented the values of limited government by separating two jurisdictional spheres based on Jesus’ principle: ”Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Mark 12:17).
2) Denigrate Christianity and demonize Christians as hateful hicks through smear campaigns and directing abusive invective to those exercising their right of moral dissent. Ironically, they should lose any moral ground they purport to assert through their vicious bullying tactics if people will become aware of the contradiction of the Christophobic activists crashing Christian forums, like blog discussions and Facebook pages, offensively telling the Christians there how “hateful” they are.
3) Discriminate against Christians and Judeo-Christian values. The Christophobic activists demand special privileges for anti-theistic or irreligiously shaped views in seeking to shut out religiously shaped convictions from public expression and influence.

And the Heritage Foundation’s full assessment of the constitutional and societal damages of this bill:
Critics of the bill that positions Illinois to become the 15th state to allow gay marriage point out that, though it protects clergy and houses of worship, it doesn’t spell out exemptions for people and businesses who, based on their religious beliefs, might not want to do business with same-sex couples. The text of the bill makes clear that it doesn’t alter two related laws: the Illinois Human Rights Act and the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
A Hawaiian lesbian legislator has garnered national headlines last week for her decision to vote against a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in the last state to join the Union.
Representative Jo Jordan is reportedly the first openly gay lawmaker in the United States to vote against a proposed legislation legalizing gay marriage. Jordan’s chief reason for opposing the legislation, Senate Bill 1, was that she believed the measure did not adequately protect religious liberty, as she explained in an interview with local media.

Fr. Donald G. Timone has been involved with Courage − a 33 year-old Catholic support group that encourages men and women with same-sex attractions to live chaste lives − for many years. But gay activists don’t like the Catholic church’s position on homosexuality, so they began doing what they do best . . . bullying the school’s principal and administration for daring to host a priest that has stayed true to the church’s position on sexuality!
A married gym teacher at an Upper West Side private school was fired because his lesbian supervisor disapproved of his “traditional family status,” the canned teacher claims in a new Manhattan lawsuit.
Famed Italian singer Giuseppe Povia says the persecution he has suffered from homosexuals and their allies in the entertainment business following his controversial 2009 song “Luca era gay” (Luca was gay), about a man who converts from the gay lifestyle to heterosexuality, has ruined his career. In his most recent blog entry, Povia says that since he won second prize for the song at Italy’s Sanremo festival, “Gay associations in many provinces have repeatedly invited me to apologize to the gay community,” and he has found it difficult to find work because of a whispering campaign against him by homosexuals.
But now the faith-based community of Yad Hashmonah may be forced to shut its doors after being ordered by an Israeli court to compensate two lesbians who were not allowed to hold their “gay” wedding at the banquet hall and biblical gardens.
America doesn’t know that this is part of same-sex parenting, because Americans have been blocked from hearing from me, Dawn Stefanowicz, Jean-Dominique Bunel, “Janna,” Manuel Half, Rivka Edelman, and the blogger known as “the Bigot” — just some of the many people I’ve come to know over the last year and a half, who have the human stories to dispel the myth that all is well with “gay families.” This scares the crap out of people at GLAAD. It scares the crap out of them that I’m a professor and fluent enough in the way research works to know that the “consensus” on same-sex parenting is a fraud. It scares the crap out of them that I have a scholarly record in African-American Studies and queer readings of Thoreau and Whitman, so they can’t write me off as a wacko, unwashed homophobe.
When you hear the canard from gay marriage enthusiasts that kids of same-sex couples need “protections,” this is equivalent to what was originally in Article IV, stipulating that if someone had a contract over another person, nobody could “discharge” the bonded person from service. Such is a drastic inversion of the legitimate intent of adoption, which is meant to be a fulfillment of society’s duty to parentless children, not the fulfillment of adult desires for captive children in their homes. Having studied how slavery proliferated and got worse during the Renaissance and Enlightenment, I am not afraid to share my concern about the precedent it would set for gays to claim that the Constitution affords them a right that we fought a whole Civil War to prove human beings could not exercise.
In the watered down, oversimplified world of gay bloggers, I was the evil bigot who compared gay parents to slave owners. Some even summarized my years of research as, “he equates gay marriage to slavery.” This was, in the eyes of students and administrators, beyond the pale.
I was not the only one. I was one of three speakers named by a queer graduate students’ group at Stanford as so dangerous and bigoted that we should not be given university backing of any kind. Both the Stanford graduate and undergraduate student councils voted by large majorities to block funding to the Stanford Anscombe Society.
Just in the last week, in the latest blitz of gay über alles, at the provocation of groups like GLAAD and Right Wing Watch, a newspaperman was sacked in Iowa and an entire show on HGTV was canceled because of editors and two handsome blond brothers adhering to the millennia-old strictures about chastity.
In March 2013, at a venue called Yoshi’s in San Francisco, Michelle Shocked had spoken from the heart about Christian marriage, as a Pentecostal. As a result, she had the plug pulled on her while she was onstage. Immediately, hit pieces came out in the San Francisco Bay Guardian and Yahoo News, branding her a homophobe and denouncing her for hate speech. Within days her tour was in ruins, and supposed gay rights activists had pulled strings in dozens of cities to cancel her shows. An appearance on Piers Morgan’s show didn’t reverse her plummeting fortunes; as one might expect, Morgan simply trapped her and made the situation worse.
Ritualized crying became the weapon of choice. We heard about well-intended homosexuals being thrown out of the house by mean Christian parents. We heard about stellar gay citizens “just wanting to build families.” In endless performances of rhetorical masochism, we heard about kids of gay people longing to have society applaud their guardians for wrenching them away from their own biological roots. We heard about horrible bullies committing all these mythical crimes against helpless gay people:
- Stiffing lesbian waitresses on tips because they hate their lifestyle.
- Barring a lesbian mom from visiting her lover in the emergency room because they’re gay.
- Spray-painting “Kill the Gay” on lesbians’ garages.
- Putting on ski masks, breaking into a lesbian’s house, vandalizing her rooms, and carving slurs into her naked body.
- Luring gay boys out of Montana bars with an offer of cigarettes, calling them “f—–s,” and beating them to a pulp.
- Slipping hate letters under the door of lesbian college students.
- Burning gay men’s hands with hot metals.
- Jumping a gay man en masse, calling him names, and beating him to a pulp.
- Spray-painting “Hey Tranny, know your place” inside Vassar dormitories.
- Posting homophobic messages so prolifically at Oberlin College that the whole school had to shut down.
All of these stories, it turns out, were completely fabricated. And this is a trimmed down list, believe me – the anti-gay hate crime hoaxes are astonishing in their volume and premeditation. This is not a coincidence. There’s too much consistency in the fabrications and what the fabricators are trying to do.
Beyond the fabrications, there are the intentional misreadings of real events – the belief, for instance, that Matthew Shepard was killed because of homophobia rather than out of intimate partner violence by another queer man; the conviction that 12,000 homosexuals were kicked out of the military for being gay when in fact most of them asked to leave using an escape valve (Don’t Ask Don’t Tell) that has now been taken away from them; the certainty that Tyler Clementi’s 2010 suicide resulted from gay-bashing rather than the eighteen-year-old’s distraught response to the fallout of risky sexual behavior with older strangers he was meeting over the internet.
Unaware of the witch hunt carried out by McCarthy’s rainbow-brandishing gay great-grandsons in Silicon Valley, a middle-aged man came forward and cried out in Italian, “Is it just me, or is the gay lobby imposing a dictatorship on us with their so-called scientific experts?”
Julea Ward was a graduate student at Eastern Michigan University. She asked to refer a client to a different counselor, based on the fact that her religious beliefs disallowed her from affirming an unchaste homosexual relationship. As Jeremy Tedesco points out:
Her objection is to providing counseling on certain topics, not to counseling any particular group.
So the claim that Julea refused to see clients who identified as gay is patently false.
The actual facts are that Julea faced a values conflict when a potential client sought counseling about a homosexual relationship. Recognizing the likely values conflict with the client, she asked her professor whether she should refer him before any meeting took place and was instructed to do so. But the University charged Julea with “imposing values” on the potential client, and disobeying ethical rules that apply to counselors. It then expelled her from the program, even though she was a stellar student who was carrying a 3.91 GPA.
She won her case, but only after fighting tooth and nail. Ward, Dixon, McCaskill, and McClurkin can join up with Roland Martin, the African-American CNN correspondent who was suspended for “offensive” tweets about David Beckham posing in his underwear.
In the ensuing year, my life became an endless array of traumas. Repeated attempts to get me fired failed, so finally the gay lobby placed me on a “commentator accountability” list with a host of other people identified as “anti-gay” and blocked from access in the mainstream media. The Supreme Court cases on DOMA and Proposition 8 sucked me into the vortex, as did the fight for gay marriage in Minnesota, the struggle for gay marriage in France and Britain, and the battle over gay adoption in Russia’s Duma. I’d spent twenty years trying to be a writer, but I ended up receiving international attention not for what I wrote, but rather because my life seemed to people like a tawdry Jerry Springer vignette.
Those who disagreed with me recruited students, family members, and colleagues to denounce me. They dug up an old novel that I’d written and trashed it, calling me the worst writer ever. They tear-gassed my camp in Paris, butted against barricades to lunge at us in Brussels, and called me “loathsome” in St. Paul. They filed complaints, issued denunciations, e-mailed me hate and vileness beyond anything I could ever imagine.
A great deal has been made of Obama’s invocation of gay and lesbian rights as a reason to chill relations with Russia. Without getting into Snowden or Syria, it is the epitome of bad faith for Americans to slam Russia based on their laws regarding homosexuality. Here is why.
As this LifeSiteNews article points out, the law at the center of this controversy imposes a penalty of roughly US $156.00 on people who promote the gay lifestyle to minors. In California, there is currently a law forbidding mental health professionals from promoting the ex-gay lifestyle to minors. Similar laws are now pending in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Since anyone counseling minors to avoid homosexual inclinations would be breaking these state laws, he or she would be a criminal and a derelict professional, subject (I presume) to losing his or her license. Hence, such professionals face penalties far more severe than $156.00.
My crime is not that I have ever voiced anything homophobic, because I haven’t, but rather that I am chummy with people in the National Organization for Marriage, delivered a talk to a French group whose president was once accused of denying the French homosexual Holocaust, spoke at the French “manif pour tous” against homosexual marriage and adoption, and just did an interview with Sandy Rios of the American Family Association about same-sex marriage.
I have been tempted, as so many of us have, to fall into the guilt-by-association game. Then one starts apologizing for allies or else “distancing” from sources of support. It is important not to react to guilt-by-association attacks in this way.
On March 24, 2013, as I stood with other speakers waiting to take the stage at Paris’s “manif pour tous” against homosexual marriage, I saw tear gas sail through the air at a crowd of peaceful protesters.
Children, elderly people, and elected officials were hit by the gas. Christine Boutin, the president of a political party, passed out. Some videos showing what happened are posted on my blog here.
This just came in off the wire at Advocate: the Southern Poverty Law Center is financing a lawsuit against JONAH, an organization that offers Jews “new alternatives to homosexuality.”
Meanwhile, Notre Dame students launched a counter-petition against the conjugal marriage petition and the new Students for Child-Oriented Policy group.
This counter-petition not only opposes official recognition of the SCOP, but also asks university officials to renounce it “unless (its members) reformulate club policy, in which childhood outcomes should not be included as a defense against marriage.”
“The petition sought to deny us official recognition as a student club and so the ability to organize events through which to explore and explain our club’s perspective,” Notre Dame senior Tim Kirchoff, a member of SCOP, told The College Fix. “It accused us of not entering into responsible discourse about social science before we had a meaningful opportunity to do so in the context of a wider conversation. There’s something just a little silly about that.”
But the counter-petition claims that SCOP’s motives “can only be interpreted as discrimination against individuals based on sexual orientation.” Their petition goes on to assert that “clearly, this group is not actually in the pursuit of knowledge and truth, nor do they want what is ‘best’ for children.”

The list of changes gives the school two years to have at least two “faculty members of color” in every single department who are “engaging in critical race and ethnic studies scholarship with a social justice emphasis.” It also demands that students with “historically marginalized backgrounds” have the opportunity to be involved in hiring these faculty.
Further demands include hiring more “medical providers of historically marginalized identities whose work is rooted in social justice” and increasing the number of “non-white” students to meet very specific proportions.
“In two years, the university student body should be proportional to three-fourths of the city demographics of non-white groups. (For example, the student body should be 13.5% Black in two years compared to the city demographics of 18% Black residents).”

But then someone exposed that, a year ago, she had said on FB that she was glad Georgian protesters had spat on Gay Pride marchers in Tbilisi, and had asked the Georgian president not to let into Georgia what she called the ‘West’s faecal masses’ – that is, homosexuals. Oz’s left-leaners, small-L liberals and artsworld inhabitants decided that such a person was not fit to perform in Australia, and so they used their considerable influence – their newspaper columns, their social-networking pages, the financial leverage of their patronage of the arts, which they made clear could be withdrawn – to put pressure on OA to drop Ms Iveri. They won. Ms Iveri was cast out, dumped by OA on the basis that her views were ‘unconscionable’. And thus was Australian opera made morally pure once more.

At Tufts, as at virtually every other school where this has become an issue, the core dispute concerned whether or not students who disagree with TCF’s belief that sex outside of heterosexual marriage is sinful should be eligible to lead the group. Indeed, a few months back, The Tufts Daily carried an op-ed from a leader of TCF who states that she is “attracted to both men and women” but is committed to TCF’s religious beliefs on sexuality.
