New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy 2

New Jersey Governor Happy to Fund Planned Parenthood

While the rest of the country is trying to defund Planned Parenthood, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is doing everything he can to reinstate it. Yesterday, at a signing ceremony, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards beamed next to the governor as he put his name on a virtual death warrant for countless unborn children.

The decision, which will go a long way to rebuilding the dozens of closed abortion centers across the state, cost taxpayers a whopping $7.5 million. “I don’t have to tell you all that today has certainly been a long time coming,” Murphy said, hinting at the longtime pro-life policy of Governor Chris Christie. “New Jersey will once again stand strong for Planned Parenthood and reproductive rights.”

In a new fact sheet about the abortion giant, FRC makes it clear exactly what Murphy is standing strong for. Elections have consequences — and for children in New Jersey and elsewhere, those consequences are deadly. Based on its own numbers, Planned Parenthood destroyed 881 babies a day — that’s one life every 98 seconds. Although the number of abortions is slightly down, its share of America’s abortion business is rising – to 35 percent from 31.5.

As for the screenings that Richards is fond of using in her lobbying, “In 2009 the organization reported doing over 1.8 million cancer screenings and related prevention services. In 2016 they did just over 660,000, a 64-percent decline. Nevertheless, Planned Parenthood continues to bill these services as a significant part of their operation.” In 2015, for the first time in Planned Parenthood’s history, abortions outnumbered basic breast [self] exams. Those numbers don’t include mammograms, because, as we all know, Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide them.
