Roe v. Wade Is not Law

By Pastor David Whitney

There was a day when this sweet land of liberty honored God’s Holy Law and anyone who dishonored it was not respected. There have been many turning points for our land, points when we turned away from following God’s Holy Law. One of the worst was January 22, 1973 a date that will live in infamy. On that date, the United States Supreme Court rejected God’s Holy Law regarding the murder of the weakest and most vulnerable human beings, infants in the womb of their mother.

We need to get the language right, we need to understand what actually happened that day forty-five years ago. They did not make it legal for our nation to murder human beings by what they call an “abortion.” They did not make it legal for a woman to hire a contract killer to murder the baby in her womb. Why? because you cannot make something legal which is a violation of God’s Law.

Murder is murder, it was always illegal, it is always illegal and forevermore it shall remain illegal no matter what label you paste upon it. The Word of God, the Law of God is fixed, it is settled in heaven forever. Abortion is murder and it cannot be legalized.

What took place that cold January morning in 1973, was our nation rebelled against and rejected the fixed unchanging Law of God. And it did so without a second thought to the consequences. And so the floodgates of death and destruction were opened. Today one human life will be destroyed every 20 seconds in the wombs of American mothers. Nearly 3,000 innocent people will be murdered in America each day. When added up, that’s around one million Americans a year.

Over the past 45 years, nearly 60 million have been murdered without mercy in these United States. These individuals have had no trial, no legal representation, and no opportunity to defend themselves. Yet, they have been executed in a most cruel, inhumane way.

Let the weight of that hit you: Nearly 60 million lives…gone. Just think of a catastrophic disaster where the entire populations of California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington are wiped out. Gone! Abortion is the American Holocaust.

But that is only one of the consequences of rebellion against God’s Holy Law. Turn to Psalm 2:2, for this pointedly describes our nation.

“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”

In other words let us declare that in our Land the Holy Law of God is null and void. So we now permit murder. How does God respond to such folly?

Psalm 2:4-5

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”

God is laughing at America, He has been laughing at us for 45 years, laughing at the stupendous folly of thinking you could throw off God’s Holy Law, and that your rebellion would bring you blessing. God laughs at puny human’s wearing black robes, acting like and believing themselves to be gods; what miscreants, what moral and mental pigmies, what abject blind fools to think they can ultimately get away with such evil.

God has an answer to this folly. He speaks to His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in Psalm 2:8,

“Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”

What is the end of any nation such as ours who rebels against God’s Holy Law? Utter destruction. Described here in the vivid picture of the interaction of an iron rod when it is brought down with force upon a clay pot – dashed to pieces, irrevocably crushed to dust. Destruction is inevitable unless we repent.
