Trump Blames ‘Corrupt’ Media for Slump in Polls
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is laying out his plan to defeat global Islamic terrorism in a speech Monday.
This comes after he spent the weekend trying to explain why he’s not doing so well in the polls against Hillary Clinton. Trump blasted the media for his recent slump, calling the press “disgusting” and “corrupt.”
In a series of Twitter tirades the nominee lashed out at the media for what he deems as partial coverage.
“I am not only fighting Crooked Hillary, I am fighting the dishonest and corrupt media and her government protection process,” Trump tweeted.
On the road in Pennsylvania, he also warned of voter fraud this fall.
“We’re going to watch Pennsylvania. Go down to certain areas and watch and study and make sure other people don’t come in and vote five times,” he said.
“If you do that, we’re not going to lose,” he continued. “The only way we can lose, in my opinion — I really mean this, Pennsylvania — is if cheating goes on.”
Meanwhile, Republicans are urging Trump to focus his fight with Clinton instead of the media.
Trump fired back by saying he does “stay on message” but the media misrepresents that message.
Much of the candidate’s anger was aimed at The New York Times. Over the weekend the Times reported that Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort’s name is listed on a secret ledger in the Ukraine.
That ledger allegedly states that Manafort received $12.7 million of undisclosed cash from then President Viktor F. Yanukovych.
In a statement to NBC News, Manafort called the accusation “unfounded, silly and nonsensical.”
