Washington State School District Will Allow Religious Flyers
(1 min Audio Report – Freedom’s Call)
A Washington state school district finally allows religious references in promotional flyers!
This case involved a private, after-school Bible club sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship.
The Clarkston school district originally did not let them distribute flyers with religious references that were announcing the club meetings.
In all flyers, Child Evangelism Fellowship includes language accurately describing the nature of the club.
These flyers are the private speech of the club, and it is entirely constitutional for the school to allow them to be distributed.
The Constitution requires that the school permit ANY external organization to distribute flyers. The school must allow the same to all external organizations equally.
The school district reversed its decision and Liberty Counsel was honored to help in this victory.
